Michael Fassbender Fixed for Assassin's Creed Movie Role

Joining the creed
Prometheus actor Michael Fassbender will star in Ubisoft’s upcoming theatrical adaptation of Assassin’s Creed. According to Variety, the Hollywood heavyweight will play the series' iconic hooded hero, in addition to co-producing the movie.
Details about the flick’s setting and plot are limited, but previous rumours have hinted at the film being based on the original Assassin’s Creed game. In that instance, Fassbender would play the entirely uncharismatic Altair. It would take an award winning performance to make that character seem even remotely interesting in our opinion.
Ubisoft will work on the adaptation alongside Fassbender’s own DMC Film. The publisher was originally in negotiations with Sony, but those talks stalled. However, the conglomerate could still distribute the movie, with discussions likely to continue once a writer and director has been appointed to the project.

And it is always unforgivable for a journalist of any kind to get simple facts wrong, don't you forget it.
