Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City developer Slant Six has been forced to cull its workforce by about 25%. However, the studio hopes to rehire those affected employees in the coming months.

Speaking with GameInformer magazine, a company spokesperson said:

Regretfully, we can confirm that there have been some temporary layoffs at our studio. We must stress that these are temporary layoffs, which means we are working very hard on new business prospects so we can reinstate every single person affected.

As an independent and close-knit studio, it is a very difficult but necessary business measure due to the current project cycle demands.

Despite receiving a dire critical reception, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City was a major commercial hit. Slant Six is now turning its attention to an “unannounced collaborative venture with a major publisher” and a self-published arcade flight simulator named Strata Scavenger.
