Primed and ready

Not content with the handful of other projects he’s already announced, Hideo Kojima has now purportedly confirmed the existence of Metal Gear Solid 5. Speaking with a French magazine, the legendary developer apparently insinuated that there will be a fifth entry in the popular stealth series, and unsurprisingly it will take advantage of Konami’s new FOX Engine. It’s unclear, however, whether the title is currently in development, or simply on the cards.

Regardless, here’s the quote translated from French (and presumably Japanese before that):

About Metal Gear Solid 5, I can tell you two things. There will be much question of infiltration, espionage, and convincing people to give you “a favour” like in the last Metal Gear Solid.

I liked the idea of social interactions in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but we will see. And if I say more, the female ninja public relations officer, who is behind the door, I will be carved up into pieces. So it's better that we meet again when the time comes to talk about Metal Gear Solid 5.

Kojima concluded that he has “not yet finished with Solid Snake”, despite the fact that he wanted him to die at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

According to CVG, the interview is legitimate. Either way, it’s probably best to take things with a pinch of salt. Personally, we wished Hideo Kojima would stop talking and start doing a bit more showing – how many projects does he have in development right now? We've honestly lost count.
