Pull out your Dad’s favourite 80s hair metal LPs and squeeze into your Mum’s leopard skin pants – because Double Dragon is making a comeback.
Publisher Majesco announced the exciting news this evening, confirming that 2D masters WayForward Technologies are handling the long overdue makeover.
Double Dragon: Neon – due out on PSN this July – promises to stick closely to the franchise’s fighty origins, serving up a hearty helping of old-school left-to-right scrapping. Expect a simple combo system and plenty of collectible weaponry, including baseball bats and hand grenades.
This is the first Double Dragon entry since The Shadow Falls released on SNES and Mega Drive way back in 1994. Excuse us a moment — we're off to find our guyliner.

I am a big fan of Double Dragon too, its two-player co-op gameplay really captured my attention when I first played the original coin-op in 1987, I still enjoyed the basic premise of it in the updated Game Boy Advance port by Million in 2003/4.
I wonder if Double Dragon: Neon will include throwbacks to the original, like the elbow smash and headbutt, or the way in which you had to fight your buddy after beating Big Boss Willy (you can't make a name like that up, or his alternative 'Machine Gun Willy' moniker).
This one is in safe hands, I have a lot of respect for WayForward Technologies, from their 2D work on DS (Contra 4 and Aliens: Infestation etc), through to more close to home titles like PSN BloodRayne: Betrayal.
It is about time for a new, well crafted return of double dragon (at least the Super Famicom box art was a bit better than the crummy US SNES artwork, pictured above).
Can't Wait! I was excited for a new Tony Hawks Pro Skater on PSN but now I have to add this to the list.
Oh I hope this comes to XBLA as well. The Double Dragon series have always been one of my favorite franchise. I might be wrong here but didnt Battletoads & Double Dragon come out after Double Dragon V The Shadow Falls?
