We're struggling to get Gary Numan out of our head right now

Try and feign some excitement, anything, because Codemasters has announced – wait for it – F1 2012. That’s right, the latest title in the annual Jenson Button simulator will arrive in September on PlayStation 3 (and noticeably not on PS Vita).

Codemasters’ timing is impeccable as we’re just a few hours away from the start of the 2012 Formula One season kicking off in Melbourne. We didn’t have that information to hand, obviously – we just asked Google.

New additions include a Young Driver Test, designed to get newcomers to grips with controlling an F1 car. (It’s hard.) Other enhancements include improvements to the previous title’s competitive and co-operative multiplayer components, and the inclusion of Austin for the US Grand Prix and Hockenheim for the German Grand Prix.

Other than that, expect to crash a lot and fade in and out of fantasies in which Nicole Scherzinger is your girlfriend. Sheesh, we wish.
