Binary Domain Trailer Makes a Case for Native Voice Acting

Cringe worthy
The Yakuza franchise gets away with its daft dialogue and silly plotlines because SEGA doesn’t even bother hiring voice-actors anymore. (We’re ignoring Eliza Dushku’s turn in the original title for obvious reasons.)
It’s a shame, then, that SEGA hasn’t extended the same faith to Binary Domain – a title developed by the Yakuza team, but with much greater ambitions in the West. We absolutely adore what we’ve played of the game, but these cut-scenes aren’t exactly filling us with confidence. It's not because of the direction, content or the visuals – no, there’s a distinct problem with the voice acting. That is to say: it’s terrible.
We’re holding out hope for a native language option in the game’s menus. It really could make all the difference.

I expected a lot worse. There is worse stuff out there that is native english (every single Bethesda RPG).
That doesn't mean I disagree though, a native language option would do a lot of games a great justice, but unfortunately, I don't think it's going to happen for many titles. It's a niche that publishers don't find worthy of filling.

I've definitely heard worse but it still isn't very good. I suppose having the characters speak in their native tongue (Dan being an American) might add something to the story though, just like the way the kids were talking Japanese.
