Like sticker collecting at school

Players of the Uncharted games will be familiar with the franchise’s penchant for collectible goodies, but upcoming PS Vita launch title, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, takes things to the next level.

The game is stashed with over 300 collectible items called Bounties. These are dropped by enemies throughout the game, though some of which are extremely rare. In order to help players to find these priceless items – and presumably encourage social interaction in a predominantly single-player focused game – Sony Bend’s created a Black Market for Uncharted: Golden Abyss; a feature which works via the PS Vita’s NEAR social networking application.

Players can ping out requests to the Uncharted community for Bounties they are missing. If someone that has the treasure responds to your beacon of distress, you’ll earn it in-game. So in order to collect all the Bounties, you’re going to need to go out and about and appeal to the wider PlayStation Vita community to aid your plight.

It’s a super clever system, and one that we’re eager to try out. Man, the PlayStation Vita just keeps getting cooler, doesn’t it?
