PS3 & PS Vita Bound Final Fantasy X HD To Be A Full Scale 'Remake'

But breaking the silence, producer Yoshinori Kitase has told German magazine M! Games that the title will not be a simple HD repaint, more a full scale remake.

Don't expect the game soon though, as it is still in the early stages of development. Kitase didn't reveal what role he'd have in the production, but did admit that the remake "will have the same quality as the original".

Whether that's a good or bad thing, depends on you who ask.
