It's probably no coincidence that this video has emerged just as WipEout 2048's global release date nears.

A YouTube video uploaded by the "Japan Institute Of Science And Technology" shows a WipEout themed model car track that operates using, erm, superconductivity and magnetic fields to send two levitating model crafts sprinting around a circuit.

According to Gizmodo the scientific theory is sound, but the footage looks unquestionably like CG from where we're sitting. Which would make sense, given that Sony has a new WipEout game coming out this month in Japan, and next month across the rest of the world.

Still, the video's well worth watching. It's even got the crazy hip WipEout music running in the background. Talk about attention to detail.
