Sony shipped 500,000 PlayStation Vitas to Japanese retailers. Not 700,000.

But that number's been clarified overnight. In a column posted on Nikkei, IGDA Japan vice coordinator Kyoshi Shin said that the shipment was closer to 500,000 units.

However, Shin was critical of Sony's inability to sell out the system's initial shipment, blaming high price points as the problem.

Enterbrain revealed yesterday that the PlayStation Vita sold around 321,000 units in its first two days on the market, outselling the PSP and PS3, but falling short of the numbers posted by the Nintendo 3DS earlier in the year.
