Naughty Dog's hoping that user feedback will help to get Drake aiming straight.

The meeting — held with members from NeoGAF — was dubbed as "really fruitful" by community manager Arne Meyer, and gamers were encouraged to "stay tuned" for future updates, indicating the likelihood of a patch.

Uncharted 3's "aiming issues" generated a minor backlash around the launch of the flag-ship third-person shooter and pertained to the idea that combat was much stickier and less fluid than in Uncharted 2. Naughty Dog had previously defended this by pointing out that the weapons merely fire differently in Uncharted 3, but fans didn't feel like this argument held weight.

Those invited to Naughty Dog's headquarters were given time with the final retail version of Uncharted 3 and a revamped version, and were encouraged to offer feedback. One user, CartridgeBLower, said, "I sat down and played with a couple tweaked versions of the new controls, and they were definitely more in line with the MP and UC2. They seem to have fixed much of the dead zone problems, and are adjusting the sensitivity so you can go even higher than what 100% is now."

Another user, AwesomeSauce, added: "[Richmond] had us play a level with the old controls, and replay it with the new controls. To be honest, the new controls did fix a lot of issues, but the big issue we agreed on was that the aim assist was too 'sticky' and it caused a lot of the weird issues that we're complaining about. I felt that they still need to tune the precise movement while aiming even with the new controls as slightly aiming the analog stick would still cause weird acceleration issues that had you misjudge your shot."

Despite the minor backlash, we had no real issues with Uncharted 3's controls during our review procedure. Naughty Dog's yet to officially reveal whether an improved controls patch will surface, but it's probably sensible to expect one.
