NetherRealm Studios Is Keen To Do A New Mortal Kombat Crossover Game.

Yes, without fatalities it kind of lacked some of the "thrill" of Mortal Kombat, but it was still a decent brawler all the same. And developer NetherRealm did a brilliant job of creating interesting fighters out of the DC characters.

But with the latest Mortal Kombat title blowing up — and subsequently becoming the biggest fighting game of the year — we figured another crossover title was off the cards. Surprisingly, series creator Ed Boon has admitted that it's something the team have talked about.

“We absolutely have thought about it," he said. "We’ve all dreamt with crossing over with Street Fighter or Tekken. Killer Instinct was also one that was coming up since they were an M-rated game as well. But I’ll tell you that we’ve had many, many conversations along those lines."

The closest thing to a crossover in the modern Mortal Kombat was the inclusion of Kratos from God Of War. Boon revealed that at first developer Sony Santa Monica was a bit protective of their protagonist.

“The guys at Sony Santa Monica were as protective of Kratos as we are with our characters. At first, they were a little adverse to seeing fatalities performed on Kratos. But once they opened up to that idea, all of our characters certainly have that done on them, they were cool with it,” he continued.

“To me, it’d be cool to see other characters from other fighting games, Ken and Ryu from Street Fighter or someone from Tekken would be fun ones as well.”

It's never, ever going to happen though, eh?
