Journey's Travelling To The PlayStation Network Next Year.

Journey's not coming out this year. Developer thatgamecompany was never specific about a date, but did confirm that it was aiming for a 2011 release date. The indie studio's silence has been telling over the last couple of months though, and it's true what they say: you can't rush brilliance.

So with the game's beta out of the way, Journey has one long stretch of development ahead of it until it eventually releases in Spring 2012.

"For the past few months, we kept getting asked about Journey’s release date," thatgamecompany co-founder, Jenova Chen, told the PlayStation Blog. "Yes, we haven’t said anything about our release in a while mainly because we really couldn’t tell. And we don’t want to throw out a date that we are not sure about, and later disappoint our players.

"Fortunately, the online beta went very well, and our continued playtests have given us great feedback on the work we have left to complete," he added. "While there is still a ton of care and polish needed, we can’t wait to finally deliver Journey, TGC’s take on an online adventure game.

"Like all our games, Journey is an experiment. In the end, it’s what you think that matters. We are happy to announce Journey will be released Spring 2012, so you can experience the adventure for yourself."

Naturally we're disappointed that the game's not coming this year, but with a packed release schedule filled with quality games this Fall, we're looking forward to enjoying Journey in its own, less busy release window next year.
