We're Cool With A New Mortal Kombat Movie... As Long As It Has The Theme Song From The Original.

A report by the LA Times suggests that a new movie is on the horizon, coming from the same director of the franchise's recent web series.

Kevin Tancharoen was just an ordinary guy making fan-films until he was commissioned to direct the Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series. Now he's been signed up for the movie, which will be produced by New Line Cinema and Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment.

The movie's script is being penned by Oren Uziel, and is expected to release alongside a new Mortal Kombat game in 2013.

“The new game and the online shorts prompted us to consider a reboot of a brand we hadn’t been actively thinking about,” said New Line president Toby Emmerich. New Line, of course, were involved in the legendary Mortal Kombat films from the mid-90s.
