Mass Effect 3's Getting Multiplayer. Great?

Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer. We're not entirely sure why — Mass Effect 2 was easily one of the worst third-person shooters we've played on PS3. Terrible shooting mechanics, a hokey cover system and boring AI made it a shoddy experience in combat. The only reason Mass Effect 2 was such a good game is because of the plot and characters.

Unless Bioware's planning on introducing a Conversation Deathmatch multiplayer mode, then we doubt we'll be spending too much time with Mass Effect 3's multiplayer. But that's perhaps a little harsh, it might be great. Everyone said Uncharted didn't need multiplayer and it turned out brilliant.

The news comes via the front-cover of an XBOX 360 magazine. The cover reads: "Mass Effect 3 - new levels and multiplayer". A Tweet later teased a GamesCom reveal for the multiplayer component.
