No Skyrim DLC For You, Lowly PS3 Owner. (Well, Not For 30 Days Anyway.)

Microsoft disagrees. In a move that's becoming all too familiar, the XBOX 360 platform holder has signed up for timed exclusivity on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's first two DLC packs. The content will be available "exclusively" on Microsoft's platform for a period of 30 days, before appearing on PlayStation Network thereafter.

This practice irritates us greatly. We're cool with Microsoft adding value to its system — heck, Sony does the same — but the difference between the two platform holders is undeniable. While Sony adds value to games like Mortal Kombat by working with the development studio to create exclusive characters (see: Kratos), Microsoft instead pays publishers to ensure legitimate players on other platforms can't access content that is going to be released anyway. It's shady, dirty and disgusting.

The good news is that Skyrim will probably boast somewhere in the region of 100-hours of gameplay out of the box. It's not like you're going to be twiddling your thumbs waiting for that exclusivity period to expire. But still, sort your shop out Microsoft. Your customers deserve better.
