Final Fantasy XI Online May Hit PS Vita

During an interview published in the latest issue of Famitsu, Final Fantasy XI producer Hiromichi Tanaka revealed that his epic MMORPG may be getting a revamp in the form of a PS Vita port.
Final Fantasy XI was first released in Japan nearly a decade ago, and eventually spread to multiple regions and systems. It was available on Windows, the PS2, and later the Xbox 360, but never made its way to the PS3, and according to Tanaka, Square Enix plans to keep it that way.
But he says the company is considering a port for Sony's upcoming, 3G-enabled PS Vita. The 3G model's constant connectivity would be a perfect fit for the game, and the system's touch controls would add some interesting new elements to the battle system. While we'd love Near and Party integration as well, Tanaka labels the possible project as a basic port, so the game may not be tampered with very much. Seeing how FFIV panned out, that may be for the best.

That's actually too bad, since unlike FF4, FFXI looks like $#!+. Even on the higher resolutions I could barely see what I was looking at. I love the FFXI a lot, but damn does it need a visual upgrade.
BTW, the tag says FFIX instead of FFXI.

this might give me a good reason to get the 3G version actually. wow that is interesting, I was addicted to that game on the PS2. Of course I'm also still waiting for XIV on my PS3 and I don't see why the Vita couldn't do that too.

It's talk like this that makes me wonder just how much of an online-on-the-go experience the Vita will be. The Vita will truly be revolutionary. I'm already giddy thinking about how much fun I'll have on the commuter rail to work I'll be having with the Vita.

In all honesty though, it's probably a hardware thing... XIV takes some massively good hardware
