PlayStation Home Is Being Updated To Version 1.50 Today.

50 today. The update, which was announced at GDC, enhances Home's engine to aid developers in creating high-performance games for the virtual world.

The big example of Home 1.50's new features, SodiumTwo, is not quite ready yet, but Sony is releasing a new Sodium themed personal space to celebrate.

We actually got our hands on SodiumTwo over the weekend and it's very impressive. It's essentially a freemium Wipeout, with better than expected controls and visuals. There are leaderboards, credits and XP to earn. As you play you'll rank up and be given the option to tweak your hovercraft in the space's "Garage". As far as we understand, the model will allow you to purchase unlocks via the PlayStation Store or alternatively with Sodium Credits which you earn as you race. It's pretty neat. The space is promising multiplayer races too.

Very impressive, and it's great to see Home has a direction now. These MMO-lite games that are releasing for the platform continue to sap our time when we have a few minutes to spare.
