So The Rackets Are A Bit Much, But Virtua Tennis 4 Looks Seriously Exciting Otherwise.

Posting on the PlayStation Blog, veteran SEGA executive producer, Mie Kumagai, has revealed a bunch of exclusive features for the PlayStation 3 version of the upcoming Virtua Tennis 4.

So ok, the tennis rackets look terribly tacky, but the other features are pretty cool. First and foremost, the PlayStation 3 version of the game will score three additional players. Boris Becker, Stefan Edberg and Pat Rafter will all be exclusive playable characters in the PS3 version.

But that's not all. The PS3 SKU will also feature two additional mini-games: Pin Crusher and Net Blitz. Pin Crusher will be familiar to old-school Virtua Tennis fans. It's the mode where you try to knock down a set of pins using your player's serve. You can check out a trailer of that through here.

Net Blitz is an all new mini-game, and it's designed to take advantage of the PlayStation Move controller. Here you'll build up your score by returning the ball into a trio of nets. This mini-game appears to take full advantage of the PlayStation Move's 1:1 tracking. You can check it out through here.

In addition to the exclusive features, SEGA's also lining up a PlayStation Home mini-game that's due to launch around the time of French Open. Kumagai explained that the mini-game has a "Space Invaders feel to it". Intriguing. Personal spaces and exclusive items are also on the way to Home.

Exciting stuff then. Just keep everything crossed those Move controls are as good as promised. If it delivers an experience close to Sports Champions' horribly under-rated table tennis mode, this will seriously verge on game of the year territory for us. Seriously.
