Sony Aims To Tap Into The Growth Of Latin America By Marketing With Giant Babies.

The news might not be occupying the front page of gaming websites, but the PlayStation is still a leading power in many European countries. While the sales aren't being broadcast around the Internet as gospel like the NPD, Sony's quiet dominance adds up.

With that in mind, Sony aim to be first to conquer Latin America, a region which SCEA's GM, Mark Stanley, states is growing enormously.

Speaking with IndustryGamers, Stanley noted that Latin America will take a place as the fourth major games market in the world. Stanley believes the region will stand up to the UK, US and Japan within the "next few years".

“The type of growth we’re experiencing in Latin America, you don’t see it anywhere else in the world right now,” he said.

“That’s key for the company as SCEI, as a global company. We’ve only begun to tap into the full potential in the region.”

Sony launched its first marketing campaign for the region last week. It involved giant babies. Either way, good on Sony for spotting the potential of the market. The global stability of the PlayStation brand make it a formidable force.
