LittleBigPlanet 2 Might Have Been Delayed Into 2011 But There's Plenty To Look Forward To.

Honestly, a whole lot. Sony will be sending out fresh beta invites and a story demo for LittleBigPlanet 2 from next month, as well as releasing a stand-alone PlayStation Move experience entitled Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves.

Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves was outed by Australia's ratings board last week. Now we know what it is. As suspected, the game's a unique spin-off due for release on the PlayStation Network. It's a co-operative experience designed for the PlayStation Move and provides a demonstration of LittleBigPlanet 2's upcoming motion control features. As the name suggests, the levels are set to have a prehistoric theme. “Throughout your mission you must take on challenges engineered by Terrance Dactyl – and you’re going to some need help, so put on your bear skins and grab up to four friends to navigate the tough terrain of the tropical jungle dodging erupting volcanoes and other environmental hazards standing in your way," explains the PlayStation Blog.

"The player with the PlayStation Move controller leads the charge, flicking switches and triggering platforms to help the other players, using DualShock Controllers, through each level. Leap between Dino heads, use the Move controller to blast aside crates of bubbles, ride dinosaurs through prehistoric cities, and take to the heights of tree canopies—then team up to defeat Big Rex, all while collecting Trophies along the way."

We're not yet sure whether the game can be played alone with a Navigation controller and PlayStation Move, but it's sounding like this is strictly co-op, requiring one player on the DualShock and another player on the PlayStation Move. The spin-off will be bundled with LittleBigPlanet 2 discs, but those who want to grab it early will be able to buy it on December 14th/15th (US/EU) for $5.99/€5.99 from the PlayStation Store. PlayStation Plus members will get it for free the week of December 7th.

That's not the only LittleBigPlanet news though. Sony's also confirmed that a demo of the LittleBigPlanet 2's story mode will arrive just in time for Christmas, hitting the PlayStation Store on December 21st/22nd (US/EU), giving players a taste of some of LBP2's new features. What's more, a new batch of beta invitations will be going out at the start of December. PlayStation Plus members and community contributors will all be in the running to score a code.
