It's been a long old time since an Oddworld game appeared on a PlayStation format – the last time was Abe's Exoddus on PSOne in 1998, fact fans – with the last de facto title in the series released on Xbox in 2005. Now the series is returning to its spiritual home, with Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath heading to PlayStation Network next year.
With updated visuals in sparkly 720p, extra bonus material and the all-important support for PlayStation Move, developers Just Add Water have been given the green light to enhance the original title whilst sticking close to its source material.
JAW managing director Stewart Gilray is clearly pleased about the title, and even hints that this may be a sign of things to come with future remakes:
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is the first project in what we believe will be a long and fruitful relationship. Having the chance to update this great title and release it on PS3 is just a brilliant opportunity, not least for us, but for the fans too.
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is due to launch around Easter 2011.

Looks great!
I remember playing this game on my Xbox. It's a great game. I'm glad to see it getting the Move treatment. It should be a lot of fun.
Flippin sweet. This game was awesome on XBOX. Shooting little furry animals out of a crossbow is just awesome!
I completely missed out on this series. What were these games? Adventure-type? Third person action?
Wow, looks awesome! I might get this!
I loved Oddworld on the PS1, I'll be all over this when it comes out. Hope Abe still farts thou
@Swerd.... The PSone titles were a 2D game unlike hardly anything you have played before. Maybe Lemmings is kinda close. You basically have to escape from a meat proccessing plant alive and help as many others out as you can. Its a blast.
Then on XBOX the game went 3D platforming with average success then Strangers Wrath brought the Oddworld life into a FPS/Third Person hybrid and its simply amazing.
