Dead Space 2 does not need multiplayer. The original was such an atmospheric game because of the sense of isolation. So we're not sure why Visceral's decided to chuck in multiplayer. But whatever - let's just assume that the single-player's going to be the same thrill-ride we've come to expect from Dead Space, and assume the multiplayer's just a side-attraction.

This GameTrailers teaser is your first taste. The multiplayer appears to focus on four-on-four objective based team-play, though there may be other modes Visceral's yet to detail. You'll play as an Isaac Clarke-esque clone, or one of Dead Space's many nasties. The latter appears to be a case of jumping on people and rapidly whacking the "X" button.

But there's blood and gore and light flickers. It's just all set to the sound of someone singing "Old McDonald" through their PS3 microphone. Might add to the atmosphere, you never know.
