Brazil, You Can Now Officially Have One Of These.

It's not exactly cheap, mind.

When the PlayStation 2 launched last November it cost roughly $461US. Naturally, the PlayStation 3 carries a higher price-tag. The 120GB system launching in Sony Style stores today will cost Brazillians 1,999 Brazil Reais. That's about $1,130US. Apparently, the system could have ended up in the region of 2,499 Reais, but Sony's dropped the price in order to stay competitive with the XBOX 360.

Brazil will get the PlayStation Network in three phases. Beginning in 2011 they'll get access to the Portuguese version of the PlayStation Store. Brazillian content will then be added, before the service is finally tweaked to work with the services in the country.

Anyone in Brazil picking up an "official" PS3 today? We'd love to hear from you.
