LittleBigPlanet 2 on PlayStation 3 Hands-On Impressions.

We only got to check out one level from LittleBigPlanet 2, but the charmingly titled "Tower Of Woop" seemed like a good starting point for the cutesy platforming sequel

The level was a showcase for a couple of things: firstly the new graphics engine. LittleBigPlanet 2 looks cuter than ever, thanks in part to sharper colours and even more detailed textures.

The "Tower Of Woop" also gave us a chance to check out Sackboy's new Bionic Commando arm attachment, which is initiated with the R1 button. This sends out a straggly piece of string, which can attach to any grabbable material. It becomes a key part of the level, as we're required to bouncy on springy-pads and catch onto rotating pads.

The level design seemed as inventive as ever, if not moreso. There was a strong use of LittleBigPlanet's distinct layers, which allowed us to bounce between different planes of the level rather intuitively.

Disappointingly, the jumping physics felt pretty much in-line with the original LittleBigPlanet, so those hoping for improved mechanics in the campaign may be disappointed. Thankfully, this can be tweaked in the creation mode.

We didn't see enough of LittleBigPlanet 2 to offer a deeper opinion of the game, but the small cross-section we did experience left us wanting more. Which is never a bad thing, is it?
