GameStop's Revealed That 17% Of New Product Purchases Are Contributed By Sony.

According to an SEC filing for the past year, Sony products accounted for 17% of "new product purchases" from American games retail juggernaut GameStop in fiscal '09.

Nintendo won the stakes with 23%, while Microsoft, EA and Activision sat at 12, 12 and 11 percent respectively.

Sony'll be pleased to see their stakes so high within the American boxed product market, but the industry will be disheartened to see 26% of GameStop's total profits coming from used game sales.

Thanks, Joystiq.
