God Of War III Is Pretty Damn Amazing Then.

And the verdict is... pretty damn amazing, with a whole host of 9's and 10's for Kratos' last hurrah. We've compiled a handy quick find guide below. Make yourself a brew, secure your God Of War III preorder, and then revel in the lavishing words of praise ahead.

There will indeed be chaos.

VideoGamer.com - 10/10

"A game with this much hype always has the potential to disappoint, but Sony and the team at Santa Monica Studio clearly knew what they were doing. This is a video game developed at the very highest level and takes what I thought was possible to new heights. God of War 3 is easily the best PS3 game I've played and sits comfortably as one of my favourite games of all time."

Eurogamer - 9/10

"Ultimately, if you want to revel in old-school pleasures decked out in the very brightest new armour, this is about as good as it gets."

TheSixthAxis - 9/10

"Old characters come into play, old wounds are reopened and old friends part ways, but this is an all-new game and one that kicks pretenders to the throne into touch: Bayonetta’s sexuality is already old hat, and Dante’s descent into Inferno doesn’t hold a candle to the sheer technical grunt on offer here.  Sure, we’ve already seen what Kratos is capable of, but this is the first time we’ve really seen what PlayStation 3 can do and thanks to Santa Monica Studios there won’t be a developer on the planet that isn’t looking at what’s been achieved here with envious eyes."

"You can undoubtedly find little details to complain about in God of War 3 (you can't skip cut-scenes even on a second playthrough, for instance, presumably to mask load times). But given how well everything fits together, how all of the items and weapons feel useful, how the Titan fights are some of the most impressive battles ever seen in games, how the animation and camera angles make the cut-scenes better than you see in most movies, how the combat grapple works incredibly well, and how the visuals almost make it worth playing on their own, I'm not really sure how much that kind of thing matters."

Gamespot - 9/10

"God of War III sticks to the strengths already established by its predecessors, but what it lacks in innovation it more than makes up for in execution. The combat is simple to pick up, but the added moves and weapons give it more depth than before, and the spectacular visuals make fights even more brutal. But God of War III is so much more than its satisfying combat. The imaginative visual design and moody classical score balance your quest for vengeance with artistic pleasures, and the well-crafted puzzles further tap into your cerebral vein. God of War III is a brilliantly paced, meticulously detailed adventure that is sure to thrill and satisfy until the very end."

GameTrailers - 9.2/10

IGN - 9.3/10

"God of War III is a great end to Kratos' console trilogy. It's not perfect, with some uneven storytelling and progression here and there, but it's still a fantastic overall package. The combat is stellar once again, it's bloodier than ever, and it is at times the best looking game ever released. I still think God of War II is the best in the trilogy, but Sony Santa Monica did a great job closing up Kratos' journey for revenge."

VideoGamesDaily - 8/10

"The highlights of this iteration are all in the technology; as potent and polished a hack-and-slasher as God of War 3 can be, the myth of its continuing relevance in design circles has worn thin. Series fans should and will invest, as there’s fundamentally nothing broken here that wasn’t broken before, but don’t come expecting a bold rebirth, and don’t come expecting the game of the year. Kratos is a frequent visitor to the Underworld; perhaps it’s time he stayed there."

Destructoid - 10/10

"Without question, God of War III sets the new gold standard for action games, clearing and then raising the near-impossible bar that was set by its previous installments. For many years to come, this will be the game by which all others in the genre are compared, and I suspect we won't see anything like it for quite some time. If God of War III was the reason you bought a PS3, your purchase has been justify and then some. If you're looking to show off the power of your console, this is your new showcase — it's an experience that simply can't be missed."

Play.TM - 94/100

"Still, as the orchestral score soars amid a city under assault from a flaming titan, while you simultaneously disembowel a centaur as lava and masonry rains down amid the chaos - it is easy to indulge God of War III, accept its gravitas and let Kratos' last struggle immerse you. There's no doubt that number three has reached this point as the natural culmination of the previous titles in the series, and as such it doesn't attempt anything radical or daring. What it does do, however, is to provide some of the most engrossing combat and visceral action the PS3 has to offer - presented expertly. Somehow, I think things might be looking quite good for Kratos. Vengeance, after all, is everything."
