Expect The PSP2 To Make A Shock Appearance At This Year's E3.

If you've been on the Internet at all today, you might have read somewhere that Nintendo has announced the successor to their hugely popular handheld: the Nintendo 3DS. Not one to be upstaged by the competition, analysts writing on MCV reckon the successor to Sony's Playstation Portable is just around the corner.

Lazard Capital’s Colin Sebastian reckons that Sony will announce the PSP's successor this Spring:

“While 3D games remain on the drawing board and not yet on store shelves, the emergence of new 3D game platforms could breathe more life into the hardware market,” he stated in a report.

“Along with the launch later this year of new motion sensing controllers for the PS3 and Xbox, there are several multiple growth drivers for the industry over the coming one-to-two years with new physical products.

“We expect Sony to announce a new PSP handheld device this spring, and Nintendo is likely to announce an updated console in the coming year, which could also help to reinvigorate the market.”</blockquote>

We predicted at the start of this year that Sony would make the first mentions of the PSP's successor this year. Expect the bombshell to come at this year's E3.
