Want To Make Your XMB A Bit More Spunky?

0 brought the ability to render 3D animations behind the XMB and since then there have been a trickle of Dynamic Themes to choose from. In this round-up, we'll be taking a look at some of the Dynamic Themes available for the PS3, and scoring them based on their interactivity, gneeral look and usability.

Heavy Rain: Probably the best dynamic theme available right now, this dynamic theme is content with showing some hard rain on a grungey street corner. It's simple, stylish and effective. [4]

Buzz!: A peek into the personal-life of the Jason Donovan voiced Buzz. The theme is shot from a montage of angles as the restless quiz host slums it out in his high-rise apartment. Disappointingly, the theme lacks detail. [2]

SingStar: Party-time. This revolving slideshow is ultra stylish, but lacks some of the panache of other PS3 dynamic themes. If you're way into SingStar and its scrap-book presentation though, you'll probably get a kick from this. [2]

Eye Pet: A cute little collection of shots of Eye Pet either sleeping (if you're playing at night) or running about cartoon-style. The theme's pretty basic, but the Eye Pet looks fantastic. [3]

Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time: The only real dynamic thing about this Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time theme is the awesome mechanical clock. Which is decent, but way too subtle. [1]

Afrika: A pretty detailed view of a African vista, the animated Zebras in the forefront of this theme look fantastic. It's quite an uplifting scene. [3]

Wipeout: A decent sweeping look at a Wipeout craft going through a testing phase. The aliasing and lack of detail in the objects can be a bit off-putting, but it's a stylish futuristic theme otherwise. [3]

Thanks so much to PS3DynamicThemes.co.uk for capturing video for these themes.
