Analysts Believe Sony's Motion Controller Will Appeal More To Core Gamers.

Obviously learning from some of the problems with the EyeToy and carefully observing the backlash served upon the Wii, Sony are constantly touting how the "core" gamer will enjoy the Playstation Motion Controls, as opposed to the more casual approach from both Nintendo and Microsoft. Given the price of Playstation 3, it seems very appropriate for Sony to tackle the niche of bringing motion controls to the core gamer. Analyst Doug Creutz agrees:

"Natal appeared to me to be a technological solution in search of a problem," said Creutz. "I had a very hard time envisioning playing Modern Warfare 3 using Natal," he said, adding, "By contrast, I had a very easy time envisioning it (and enjoying it) using Sony's control/motion capture scheme." Creutz stated that Microsoft is likely trying to snag some of the Wii's casual marketshare — "a difficult proposition given that you're essentially asking casual gamers to upgrade twice during the cycle," according to Creutz — while Sony's device caters more to the core gaming demographic.</blockquote>

We just wonder how long it will take for Microsoft to add in a remote with their Natal device. It kind of runs against their marketing campaign claims of "you are the controller" but the more we honestly think about Natal, the less real game potential we see for the device.

It may be getting all the press but Sony may well have the better solution.
