So I went mental and got a wii U, ...dont judge me.
Mostly for the new Zelda, because getting that game new or used with a used wii U,
is still cheaper then buying it for the NX and the NX it self ( 240 euro for the wii U compared to 400 for
the NX )
So I got Breath of the wild.
Mario kart 8, ( came with the console )
Splatoon, ( came with the console )
Hyrule warriors,
and Wind Waker HD
Any decent games I should be keeping an eye out for ?
I know the wii U is kinda niche with a so so library but im sure there must be SOMETHING out there .
Pretty much what you got there is pretty good. Their are a few other exclusives that you might want to look into
Super Smash Bros Wii U if you like the Smash series
Bayonetta 2 is a must have
Pokken Tournament if you like Pokémon and Tekken
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 if you like Tekken
Also keep in mind that with the Wii U you havery access to Wii games as well and of course to the VC games so you can get NES, GBA, SNES and more via download.

@KitsuneNight Don't know where you're getting the €400 price tag from, but they should be €330 in Europe.
There aren't a lot of third party games that are absolute must-haves on the Wii U, so I'll keep the list rather short.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, my personal favourite, and it's IMO one of the best platformers of the last decade. Pikmin 3, a good strategy/adventure game. Kinda unique in terms of gameplay, but I love the franchise.
If you're looking for platformers, there's Super Mario 3D World, and its spin-off title Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, the latter is more of a puzzle/platformer since Toad cannot jump. Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush and Yoshi's Woolly World are decent 2D platformers. All platfomers, except for Captain Toad, allow for co-op too. Super Mario Maker if you're into making your own 2D Mario levels, or playing user-created content. Although I don't know how much longer the online servers for Wii U games will stay up and running, so there's no way to tell how much use you're getting out of that game. Some online features already got shut down recently...
Anyway, Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101 are both awesome action games from Platinum Games.
And if you're into Zelda, Twilight Princess HD is also on Wii U.
Avoid Star Fox Zero though. It's a clunky unpolished mess with motion controls shoehorned into the game. Paper Mario Color Splash isn't good either.
@Octane Here Switch is 340 euros. I have read reports that the official price is 400 euros in some countries.
As for the TC question my Wii U is basically a VC machine. Be aware that the Wii VC shop closes next year and the majority of the games is not available on the Wii U. Basically every big retro game from NES, SNES, Mega Drive, Master System, PC Engine, C64, N64, Neo Geo is available.
Except from the Zelda games I only have Captain Toad and Mario Maker.
The first is a very good puzzle game and my Wii U favourite. The second has tons of comminity content.

eh i just like the codename better then the actual console's name
like PSX untill sony muddied the waters by releasing a dvr ps2 with that name
as for the price tag thats the NX with breath of the wild combined
the console is roughly 330 and the game new is 65 so almost 400
the wii U is used 180 and breath of the wild is 64 so i went with that route

i wont lie thats another main reason i wanted wii U to transfer my VC games
especially after the VC wil get axed on the wii next year
ive looked in to tokyo mirage but as usual im kinda iffy on jrps
and twillight princess is the zelda game i like the least ( of the ones i played anyway )
its on the buy list but not a priority
Nintendo Land (also great to play with friends)
Pikmin 3
New Super Mario Bros. U (and also Luigi U, if you want some classic 2D Mario platforming)
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Super Mario 3D World
Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
Yoshi's Woolly World
And if you want some RPGs:
Paper Mario Colour Splash
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
Mind you that I wanted to emphasise on the most noteworthy exclusives to keep an eye for. Most third-party games are already available on better systems so I'd focus on the Nintendo exclusives.
im fine with any and all recommendations
does the wii U have any noteworthy racers other then mario kart 8 or need for speed most wanted ?
( already have that one on origin )
im kinda eyeballing ninja gaiden 3 and cod black ops II
mostly because they are both ridiculously cheap
@belmont Well, that's just the retailer charging €340 for the Switch, I've seen it happen too. The MSRP is €330 in Europe though.
@KitsuneNight I see. I'm also sure you can find a copy of Zelda for less than that though. The MSRP is €59.99, but I got my copy for €55.00. Look around for a bit and use price comparison sites if you want to get the most out of your money.
@KitsuneNight It's kind of weird how the Wii U was slated for the pad being a gimmick, but now the Switch does it and yet removes the ability to use the controller screen for things other than off tv play it is hailed as revolutionary. I know that the switch allows games to be played away from the console, but it is still odd how different people are treating the new console. I actually found the extra screen very helpful in games like Deus Ex and Mass Effect 3.
I saw Fast Racing Neo mentioned above, I'd just like to add it isn't eshop only as they did release it on disc. You can get the Aus version quite a bit cheaper than the EU version and it is classed as the same territory (PAL) if you prefer getting your games on disc.
@Dichotomy
you know how people are : weird
and more then willing to give nintendo the benefit of the doubt for some reason
but so far i like the off tv play function the best about my wii U
i like not being tethered to my tv
the NX does it both but i am put off by its pricetag and lacklustre line up
@KratosMD To be fair they released it initially as download only and didn't really advertise the disc release. I had to check myself to see if I'd remembered correctly so I'm not surprised if a lot of people either forgot about it or never knew.
@KitsuneNight I like Nintendo and don't really mind them trying things the other two aren't - I already have a PS4 so why would I want the same console again? As with all consoles though, I tend not to buy them until there are around 10 games on it that I want and can't play elsewhere, so the NX isn't going to be in my sights for a couple of years yet. It doesn't help (me) that they are releasing a fair few Wii U ports at the moment since I already have most games I want on that system already.
@Dichotomy
same the only games i want on the NX ierr already got on the wii U
i wouldnt mind seeing hyrule warriors on the NX but i dont think thats gonna happen
which is a shame it the wii U game i currently play the most
If you like SMT/Persona then Tokyo Mirage Sessions is a must. It's the last WiiU game I'm going to play and I'm currently loving every second of it. Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is also the best platformer on the system IMO.
And of course, there's dozens of VC games to dip your toes intoif that tickles your fancy. There are a lot of fun games on the WiiU if you know where to look.
i am not really a big fan of jrpgs to be honest
i dont like the 30 year old constraints of grinding and more grinding because thats what we did in 1991 with ff 4 design
and i dont like the straitjacketed story design where the game pushes you down a path regardless of what you want either
i prefer an open world where the game lets me do whatever i want
ie fallout 3 oblivion breath of the wild
but the VC store is a major reason i wanted and got myself a wii U
