Atari 2600 the first console I owned and what started it all. It did not rely on fancy graphics it was purely about gameplay and there have been some real clasisic games that have stood the test of time. The choice of different controllers was also good for different games.

I thought this would be easy but it's sooooooooooo hard to objectively decide which is the best.

In the end, I'm just going to go with my biased favorite system, everyone else's opinion's be darned! I vote for the PS3! So many insane exclusives, weightless controller that could last me days without charging, blu-ray playback, the PSN store and multimedia apps, the landslide of QUALITY free PSN+ games, and for being the console to bring me back from PC gaming.

Only downsides were the garbage framerate of some of the multiplatform games, and the slow-as-hell PSN store interface implemented in the last leg of its lifespan. Otherwise, I still love that thing!

Make it a great day!

Ouch. Reminds me of the better days... I hardly ever play local multiplayer, so I use my second controller mainly when the battery of the other is empty, which happens almost every day that I game.

Ok this took awhile but mine is drumroll please.......
Sega Dreamcast

Yeah it had a short lifespan, yeah it spelled the end of Sega in the console market place but what a way to go.

It was the first time that I can say we got Arcade perfect ports at home that a normal person could afford. Yeah there was the Neo Geo, but honestly who could afford one of those let alone the library?

As for the Dreamcast though I remember playing Soul Caliber in the Arcade then at my friends house and just being amazed by it. It was the first console that I remember having online capability (Phantasy Star Online) and Shenmue should us what open world gaming was like. Yeah it didn't have the library like the PS2 had but the games were all unique in their own ways and set many of the standards that the gaming industry has today. And it also showed that there is a spot in console gaming for MS.

For me it's a close race between the PS2 & SNES, but I'm going to give the edge to the PS2.

Before, I just played games because they were something to do, but it was really in the 6th gen that I came into my own as a gamer, with the PS2 being our main console.

Now, I never actually played any of Sony's first party output, but it solidified my interest in JRPGs with Final Fantasy X & the Kingdom Hearts games, got me into Ace Combat & SoulCalibur, and me and my best friend spent EVERY weekend during it's lifespan goofing around in the newest WWE & DBZ games out at the time. Oh, and Ultimate Spider-Man was a blast too.

Even today, PS2 ports/remasters often find themselves high up on the list of my favorite games on current hardware (such as Zone of the Enders HD Collection on 360, or MGS3 & Tales of the Abyss on 3DS).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers

No offence, but if that's your reasoning why choose the Wii? The Virtual Console on the Wii had all kinds of patches for its games and I can remember a few game breaking bugs in Metroid Other M and Super Paper Mario, which couldn't even be fixed.
If the plug-and-play-no-hassle is your thing I'd reckon you'd rather pick the GameCube. Barely any OS, everything worked out of the box and I can't remember ever playing a game that felt unfinished. Now those (and the days before that) were the days of the Nintendo Seal of Quality.

PS3, even though it kinda sucked at the beginning it ended up being the best

The original PlayStation, for me it was the console that opened up to me about the huge potential that games can offer.

Haha, though I don't agree, that's a fair point of course. I'm not going to disagree with you on games like Galaxy and Twilight Princess of course, those were amazing..

@Kidfried: to be fair i think the games on Wii have more nostalgic value and to be clear i dint hate something becuase its not just plug in and play otherwise i wouldnt have a PS4 lol
