@RogerRoger nah these ships are in Star Trek Online so it's all on topic (JUST) so we should be fine

@RogerRoger @FullbringIchigo I quite like the Galaxy Dreadnought .
I love the Sovereign refit. Hated the E at first just down to the 'need a new movie ship' nature of its existence (and destruction of the D) - but it's a 'period' of Federation design I really like.
Akira class ranks up there too.

I not big on the later designs though. The Aventine and the later ships you can see in STO are just a bit generic.

@KALofKRYPTON yeah there are quite a few generic ship designs in STO although i like the Paladin Class

kind of feels like a good design step between the Enterprise E and Enterprise J

@KALofKRYPTON @Fullbringlchigo I respect Star Trek Online for bridging the gap with things like the Paladin-Class, but a big part of my love for the Enterprise-J is that she's so far beyond conventional 24th Century starship design, she's just this wacky, over-the-top glimpse of a future we can barely imagine. Getting to see the incremental steps that lead to the Universe-Class being commonplace is kinda like catching a glimpse behind the displays in Disneyland; it takes away some of the magic.

The destruction of the Enterprise-D makes me more emotional than the "other death" in Generations.

@FullbringIchigo I really don't like that.
Just looks like a bit of lazy extrapolation of the Centaur. Like Discovery is a lazy extrapolation of the McQuarrie Enterprise design.

@RogerRoger @KALofKRYPTON it's still better than the original version, shot in the back was NOT they way he would go down

as for STO i think it needs more Klingon ships, i'm going through with a Klingon character now the choices are slim compared to the Starfleet offerings

@FullbringIchigo I've been Starfleet and Romulan, but never Klingon. Even if I'm not the biggest fan of the race, the ships are awesome, but I've already flown a K'tinga-Class and a B'rel-Class Bird-of-Prey as part of Starfleet story missions, so I don't feel the need to start up a whole other character to see the two, maybe three, other Klingon ships I'd like to see. It's also tough to bump into Klingon players outside of the Nimbus System, so all I ever seem to see are Vor'cha-Class Attack Cruisers (because I'm guessing that's the most obvious choice at that point in the story missions).

@RogerRoger my current Klingon ship is a Negh'Var class, it's a pretty good ship actually but it's turning circle is kind of low

@FullbringIchigo A lot of the bigger ships have abysmal turning circles. At times, flying the Universe-Class feels like trying to drive a milk float with burst tyres. Whilst wearing oven gloves. On the Moon.

I do like the Negh'Var, though. They always saved it for the most epic moments.

Is the Raptor-Class available for Klingon characters? I don't think I've ever seen one flying about the neutral systems, but it's one of the few Klingon ships I might be tempted to make a third save file to try (ah, who am I kidding? I don't want to try it, I wanna take screencaps of it).

@RogerRoger i think it's one of the variants on there

@FullbringIchigo Cool, cheers for the confirmation. Might have to check it out... once I'm bored with the view from my ready room, that is.

@FullbringIchigo I can't recall how much it costs, but I certainly love it. I get a bigger kick out of the Intrepid-Class equivalent, but the detail in both of them is incredible.

The Intrepid-Class has two variants to pick from; Voyager at launch (replicators in the mess hall, no astrometrics, basic cargo bay) and Voyager from the story missions post-series (galley, astrometrics, Borg alcoves in the cargo bay). I kinda wish they'd done the same for the Galaxy-Class and given us the "All Good Things..." bridge and updated the MSDs in main engineering to show a third nacelle, since the design is so popular in-game and would've taken minor tweaking.

That being said, the effort they must've put into the Galaxy-Class interior is incredible, as it had to have been done from screencaps and set plans (whereas I think the Voyager sets were laser-scanned for Elite Force; it's why the bridge pops up so often in other games and VR projects).

Don't bother with the "Belfast" interior, a.k.a. the Defiant, as the proportions are all wrong. It's nice that they tried, but the spartan rooms and cavernous corridors are hardly worth writing home about. As for the original Constitution-Class, that fares better, but is again quite limited (although it's the only one with a full-sized shuttlebay). The two best are definitely the Intrepid-Class and Galaxy-Class ones.

@RogerRoger i already have the Constitution Class interior but the Intrepid and Galaxy classes sounds good, i think i'll get them

@FullbringIchigo They really are a step up from the Constitution-Class, so do enjoy!

@KALofKRYPTON that's great news, the voice controls add a bit of authenticity to to, actually giving the orders and all
