Hi all, just rashly bought a PS2 slim in a charity shop. I had one back in the day but I mainly played GTA or licensed games on it, plus a few footie games. With the exception of time splitters 2, any suggestions? I missed things like Silent Hill 2 which I might try.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

If you like fighting games I suggest the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection and the Fatal Fury Archives. There are a lot of collections on PS2 that were pretty good.

Freedom Fighters was an underrated classic, nice story/progression and a squad mechanic that I don't think I've seen done elsewhere.

Mace Griffin : Bounty Hunter is a great story based sci fi FPS, it showed me that FPS games could be more than a floating gun in a corridor.

Oddworld : Stranger's Wrath. Great mix of shooter/action game. Unique twist on ammo. Hilarious.

That's just 3 off the top of my head that are perhaps less known. I know you mentioned SH 2, what other types of games do you like/dislike?

@Tasuki I think I had Soul Caliber 2 on PS2 back in the day (if I have my history right). I remember really liking that - to be honest, possibly the last fighting game I played!

@CountFunkula78 Thanks for the suggestions - I've not heard of Mace Griffin before. I like games with good stories or that are better then just point and shoot.

I did order Gun because I loved that game on the PS2. Also Prince of Persia 2 Sands of time because I spotted them both for under £1

I'll second that. Freedom Fighters was gem.

@Rudy_Manchego Silent Hill 2 tends to be regarded as the best in the series. I quite enjoyed 3 as well so if you haven't tried them and are interested, definitely worth seeking out.

The two showpiece titles from Studio Cambridge (before they became Guerrilla Cambridge), Primal & Ghosthunter, are pretty good. Good story based adventure games that I spent a lot of time on. Another to try if you can find it is Mark of Kri. Had a good story & novel combat system. Tough to find lately tho
