Not too sure how popular a thread on this subject would be but as of late I have been playing games alot more on my phone.

Right now I am playing Might and Magic Heroes: Era of Chaos. It's basically a mobile version of the old Heroes of Might and Magic games that came out on PC years ago and also serves as a sequel to HoMM 3 which is reguarded by many as the best game in the series.

I have also been playing Call.of Duty mobile, which isn't too bad either and captures the feel of an actually Call of Duty game.

Anyone else care to discuss mobile gaming? Post your thoughts below and let's have a conversation.

@Genrou
I looked in to the Might & Magic mobile stuff since I quite enjoyed the one I had on my PC when I was a kid, but it all looked rather different.

I tried COD out of curiosity, quite good for what it is - but I'm really not keen on touch screen fps.

I went through a period of playing a lot of mobile games, mostly due to having an Xperia Play at the time, then later a Z1 that had DualShock 3 support.

These days my mobile gaming is largely limited to playing the digital version of Talisman, which is great! For some reason Google gifted me £2 the other day, so I bought the new single player (only) version of Talisman for a quid. Haven't actually tried it yet.

@Genrou might and Magic sounds intreaging. Last time I played that was 20 plus years ago. I play Star Wars Galaxy of Heros every day. Not much other than that. The occasional isometric rpg game as well

New Star Manager is a great mobile game which mixes simple management features but also gives you a limited role in the match too. We chatted about it in a thread recently as it’s also on PS4 now too.

I am a big fan of the Kairosoft games though. Game Dev Story is the most well known but I like the simple pixel art style and recurring characters in the games, and they have done everything from tennis games through to galactic conquests. Some are free to play with ads, some cost a small amount. Some are completely offline single player affairs and some have an online multiplayer component.

I find I really get in to the latter types, like Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes @Elodin mentions, but end up deleting them as I get too into them and they end up almost like a second job if you want to get the best gear/get all the free premium currency from daily play etc.

@KALofKRYPTON @Elodin Not sure if we are thinking about the same Might and Magic here, Heroes of Might and Magic were a series of strategy RPG games unlike the traditional Might and Magic games. Era of Chaos is based on the Heroes line.

@Thrillho I spent quite alot of time on Game Dev Story as I do like business sim games. I though Game Dev was done very well.

@KALofKRYPTON Ah ok you just put Might and Magic and I though you were talking about the RPGs, sorry about that.

I'm playing Dragon Quest II on my phone.

It's... basic. Less so than the first one, at least, although I hate how the game expects you to find stuff based on the smallest amount of information.

Currently Playing: Advance Wars 1 + 2: Re- Boot Camp (NS)

I play 80 Days far too many times a year, it’s fantastic. I play a bit of Final Fantasy Record Keeper, which is pretty generous with its currency and a great journey through the games. Hitman and Lara Croft GO are good fun and Cytus/VOEZ/Love Live are a good rhythm fix.

@Genrou the one I remember i had might have been heros, but I'm not sure. It did look similar to the app game. I remember having to take on enemies behind castle walls like the video, but it was so long ago, probably on a windows 95 PC or something close

I don't hate mobile gaming, I just vastly prefer gaming on dedicated hardware.

However, around the middle of the decade I didn't have as much money for gaming, so I dabbled in it a lot more than I do now. I remember enjoying Dragon Quest IV, Dragon Quest V, Final Fantasy IV, Hitman GO, Lara Croft GO, and Monument Valley.

I also got really into digital pinball at the time, buying quite a few tables in Zen Pinball, and downloaded a version of the Pinball Arcade that had all season 1 tables playable for free (at the time Amazon was running a program where they were eating costs by offering certain premium apps for free through their app store in an effort to draw users).

Of course I tried a variety of F2P titles, and while most quickly lost their allure, I played Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle for years.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
