Push Square Podcast has wrapped up some time ago, but I still feel an enormous emptiness in my. Luckily there have been some other podcasts to keep me afloat. I was wondering what Playstation or general gaming podcasts you listen to on a regular basis.

I listen to three podcasts on a general basis myself:

  • Kinda Funny Games Daily. I've been following Greg Miller since he started at IGN years and years ago. In general I like the podcast and team, but they ruminate on the same topics way too much, which has only gotten worse since they became a daily show.
  • Easy Allies. I've been listening to them more lately. They're doing a lot of things right: they're enthusiastic, provide a lot of insight and have diverse podcasts. They are often hit and miss, though. I'm listening to them on or off, so I'm still on the fence. Their reviews are really good, though.
  • Kotaku Splitscreen. Content wise I think this one is the best. In a way this one might remind me of the Push Square podcast the most .

What do you listen to? Of course, please keep the topic civil and refrain from spam or advertisements for other websites.

I was devestated by the loss of PS I Love You XOXO and how that all went down.
I like the Push Square Pod so I followed Ben over to PlayStation Radio UK which is OK.

Missing a dedicated PlayStation podcast, so it'll be good to hear what others are listening to.

@Fight_Teza_Fight I listened to a few of UK's podcasts, but the podcast is so different from the Push Square podcast, I found it difficult to get into. Should I give it another go?

And I fully agree on missing a PlayStation podcast, like XOXO. With many of the general gaming podcasts I feel like topics on PlayStation topics stay on the surface, without ever getting in-depth.

I too lament the loss of the PushSquare Podcast. That said, the amount of people I have punched in the face has dimished significantly since it ended (I always follow the rules).

I don't listen to that many gaming podcasts and no dedicated Playstation casts. I'm a patron of the Pretty Good Gaming Youtube channel and they do a weekly podcast which I really like as I like the channel.

I sometimes listen to the Jim Sterling podcast and used to listen to the Cool Ghosts 'Daft Souls' podcast but that seems to have stopped a bit.

I've been thinking about starting my own podcast one day with some friends, just for the hell of it.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

@Kidfried Being relatively new to the community, forgive my ignorance, but I have wondered what happened to the Push Square Podcast. Maybe that’s a can of worms I shouldn’t open, but was there a reason it stopped?

@Kidfried It's a different kind of podcast that's for sure. I like Ben, but his co-host seems a little ill-informed and just tries to be too funny.
The show is all over the place, which I'm sure is appealing to some.

They do get to the major talking points, but there's a lot of fluff in between.

I'm kind of just listening to them by default now.

@Th3solution I think the guys just got overwhelmed. They had other jobs, outside interests & one of the hosts was also still studying.

@Kidfried I've been listening to the Easy Allies podcast for quite a while, even back in the GameTrailers days. There's a lot of inside jokes and ''Easy Allies lore'' as they prefer to call you're going to miss if it's your first time listening. I dunno, it's something I listen to every Friday, and it's an easy way to recap the week. It also depends on the co-hosts, some are able to bring more insight into the discussion than others.

Nintendo Voice Chat and Podcast Unlocked have me covered for in-depth Nintendo and Xbox news. Still haven't found a replacement for XOXO. Beyond is run by Xbox fans so I've moved on from that one.

I listen to the Giant Bombcast and occasionally the Beastcast. Since Ryan passed and Vinny moved to New York the quality has gone down, but I still download them and usually get through the Bombcast eventually during the week and some of the Beastcast. I wish their hiring was better. Jason, Ben and Abby all suck. The only good recruit they made was Dan.

I actually used to be on a podcast. Two, in fact. But weirdly, I don't listen to any. Kinda like how I once wrote a book - not as exciting as it sounds, it was a rubbish ghost-writing job - yet I haven't read a book for like fourteen years.

I support the Kinda Funny crew as I enjoy their content and, as mentioned, Kinda Funny Games Daily is a pretty decent hour-ish daily news round up that's pretty light hearted. It's a shame Danny O'Dwyer had to relocate though and obviously Colin Moriarty departing earlier in the year took quite a bit of balance from their gaming output.

Colin's coming back with a weekly gaming show starting next week that should be interesting although I think he's just doing it on his own which is a bit of a shame as I always find him a lot more interesting when he has someone else to bounce off - part of why PS I Love You XOXO was so good.

Other than that I don't really listen to too many podcasts at the moment. I've found IGN's Beyond to be alright lately (haven't listened for a while before) and their Xbox and Nintendo podcasts are usually decent too.

I used to be such a huge podcast person but I've really bounced off them all in recent years. Podcast Beyond was my absolute favourite when it was Colin and Greg, but all of that is long gone now. And I used to listen to the Giant Bombcast religiously, but barely tune in anymore.

I dunno what happened really.

Tasuki

Honestly the only podcast I listen to is the CUPodcast done by Pat the NES Punk.

@get2sammyb @roe The combination of Colin and Greg was a stroke of genius by coincidence and it'll be difficult to ever recreate that type of duo again. Talking to people and seeing the topic here, it sounds like there is a demand for a high quality PlayStation podcast, but it must be difficult to get it just right.

I also feel podcasts in general are talking way too much about the side stuff instead of the games. I think if anyone would start a podcast now that would talk in-depth about the direction a Horizon sequel should take or the topic of mental health in Hellblade instead of endless micro-transactions and the death of singleplayer games, that podcast would be an instant hit.

I'm honestly not a super huge podcast person. The Push Square podcast was the main one I listened to, and obviously that's not an option now. I'll occasionally catch the Game Informer show when a new episode pops, but I'm not consistent with that. Heck, if you want to go way back, I even caught the Rooster Teeth podcast back when it was still The Drunk Tank. Haven't kept up with it consistently for a while since they dropped that name.

He said it's going to be like his Kinda Funny Show "Colin Was Right" which was a really good show. I plan on checking it out.

I wonder if for Colin Moriarty that the whole political thing hasn't been as successful as he would've hoped so he's going to try going back to where he built his name. The thing is even before everything happened that seemed to lead to his departure from the show, it was pretty clear he was bored with gaming anyway. He'd talk about how his passion is politics, how he doesn't game that often, etc. I'll tune in for an episode or two and hope it turns out well but he definitely seemed done (and unfortunately out of touch) with the whole gaming scene not too long ago.

@Gamer83 eeessh... if it ends up being a political podcast, yuck. Not what I want to do with my free time. I’d rather swim in a pool of double edged razor blades than have to listen to any more of today’s messed up politics. It’s why I like gaming — an escape from real world problems for a little while.

@Gamer83 I might be biased being a patreon supporter for Colin's Last Stand, but it's incredibly successful.

He ranks 33rd on patreon with 4.6k+ subs. His initial goal was 10k/month, he's getting well over triple that & he doesn't run ads on his videos.

I'm really looking forward to the new games show from Colin.
Haven't watched KF since he left.
