I remember back in '97 when my dad brought over a PlayStation console. The first game I played for it was Disney's Hercules. I had lots of fun with the game when I was little, and it was fun to take control of Hercules, and I really enjoyed the movie it was based on. It basically is a 2D sidescrolling platformer, only Hercules and the majority of the characters (the Hydra boss was completely 3D) were hand-drawn while the backgrounds were either painted and/or in 3D. I liked watching the FMV excerpts from the movie inbetween stages, and the music was really cool. It was also one of the very first games (as well as Super Mario Bros. 2 USA) that had secrets which can be found through thorough inspection. It was pretty challenging for me back then, and I still find it pretty fun today.
What was the first game you've played on the original PlayStation?
Digimon World. It looked so awesome, I even passed up a mountain of cheap Dreamcast games so I could get a dead system with trickling support and play the hell out of it, which I did, even after I got Digimon World 2. Of course, one day both DgmnW1 and 2 broke, and we could only replace 1. We ended up going with World 2, since we didn't play it as much. I still kinda regret it.
technically it was Destruction Derby, followed by Battle Arena Toshinden, but my first game played and owned (and the reason I bought the console) was FF7.

I got to the Sears store at 9am the morning the Playstation was released and when I asked for it, the clerk didn't even know what it was. She had to go in the back and find one. I got the Playstation and Battle Arena Toshinden. Played that damn game for weeks before I finally went and bought a new game. Good times.
@StarBoy91 Disney's PSone Hercules is on PSN now and it is worth a download for some good ole 32-bit 2D memories, I recently played it to completion.
The first PSone game I played was Ridge Racer in 1995. Me and my mates had played the arcade version of it loads when we went on a surfing holiday to Newquay the year before, and it blew us away. We loved Daytona, but Ridge Racer took swanky 3D polygon arcade racing to another level.
When my mate invested in a PAL PlayStation, around about Christmas 1995, the PSone conversion of Ridge Racer blew my socks off for the second time. I could not believe the technical leap of my mate's PSone, compared to my SNES.
I love the series now and Ridge Racer 7 was one of the first games I bought for the PAL launch of PS3. Good times.
I am passionate about retro gaming, from antiquated consoles to the continuation of classics. Obviously I love PSone, and PS2 retro games. I blast my ears to breakneck melodic punk, gruff vocals and nimble alternative guitar hooks.
Jade Cocoon. holy crap i was so disappointed... in retrospect, though, idk why i even bought it, hahaha. i think maybe there was something about the cover art that looked interesting at the time. D:
BEST THREAD EVER future of NL >:3
[16:43] James: I should learn these site rules more clearly
[16:44] LztheBlehBird: James doesn't know the rules? For shame!!!
@WolfRamHeart - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. What a masterpiece!!! I'm playing it right now on Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles for the PSP. Maybe I'll make a thread dedicated to this game someday.
Not %100 sure but does anybody remember the Playstation Underground demo discs? I didn't have any games for a while when I finally got my station however I did play a lot of those disc. What I can(kinda) remember is this first demo disc had games like Spyro and Crash on there. Spyro is the one demo that I could never get enough of. Now that I think about it Spyro is the first 3D game that I ever played. Missed the whole N64 era.
First PS1 game? Jeez, I dunno, I didn't own one back then, so I only caught glimpses of it through friends...
When I got into it, though, I'm fairly sure it was FINAL FANTASY VII.
(great game btw)
Lieutenant Commander of the Lesbian Love Brigade
There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
Battle Arena Toshiden, Destruction Derby and Worms. never owned any of them myself but they where among the first I played, first I owned probably Tekken 2.
