Topic: Why doesn't Sony listen to it's fans regarding the Vita?

Even if you tweet one of them a message to support it they still won't listen, it is like giving them people a reason not to invest in a PS Vita or PS TV. Are they solely just focusing on PS4 instead of this system??? o.o

I very much doubt they read any of the messages they get tweeted or sent. They probably only use these social media sites as free advertising and are only out-going as far as they are concerned. No company will listen to a handful of people and doubt they listen to a large group either. The only thing that 'speaks' to them are sales figures and profit margins. If the Vita stopped selling any units then they may make a decision to do 'something' - either redesign and relaunch or scrap it altogether but they certainly won't listen to its 'fans'. At best they may send out a questionnaire to get the information they need but also looking over their shoulders at the competition too.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Most people forget that these game companies are run by large corporations. Any large corporation is going to mostly be looking at whats selling and making them money. right now that's the ps4. Ps-vita was too ambitious and expensive at launch, and pstv was just an attempt to get a few more dollars out of the vita. At this point anyone expecting sony to support the vita more than they are now is living in a dream world. Right now they are only interested in getting what cash out of it that they can without spending much.

I do think they listen as well. I know it wasn't necessarily what people wanted, but that big segment at PlayStation Experience focused on the Vita was clearly a response to fan demand for more attention on the format.

The sad reality is that the system just isn't selling as well as the PS4, so obviously its resources are going into the more succesful machine. I know it sucks, but that's the way it is.

I actually believe the Vita will undergo a renaissance period not seen before in gaming, consoles and handhelds enter the market and are either successful or fail almost out of the blocks. Vita is different as its Sonys stealth second screen and is the perfect companion for the ps4. I don't think they meant it to pan out like it has but they really should start packing it in as an option with consoles. Japan is buying it now and will start a knock on effect as developers start outputting to this device. Vita tv was doomed from day one, these something and nothing gadgets ouya, amazon tv, apple tv etc dont have a market - I havnt seen a single success as nobody needs, wants or is asking for them.

Because businesses are created to make money nothing more. If something isn't making them money they aren't going to pay attention plain and simple. Want Sony to pay more attention then you as a consumer have to show them with wallet and support it by purchasing it and the games for it. When that happens and it makes Sony some money then they will pay attention to it. Sorry but that's the truth. Tweeting and Facebook messages don't make them money.

A massive upsurge in sales is the only way this could happen. I really don't see this happening in the US or Europe. Both regions are so tablet/smart phone centric that i simply don't see the demand. Your only hope is the Asian market. And even if that market takes off, how many of those game will they bother to localize here?

Yes, most companies will be willing to throw out the occasional bone if the outcry is high enough, but don't expect them to do it very often if it doesn't translate into sales.

I think that's what got them in this hole in the first place. They created the Vita based on Fan feedback on the PSP. Turns out the PSP's fans did not reflect the majority of consumers.

Well now that I think about it, people who do not understand why Sony cannot make AAA first party games complain and bash the Vita blindly seeing that as a fact. It is like they do not even do their own research. Then there are the trolls who give the Vita a.bad reputation as trying to provoke someone that they know will be sensitive about it...

Just like nintendo with the Wii U and 3DS, the companies are going to focus more onto what system is selling more. Even during the PS3 and VITA timeline, the PS3 sold more. I thought the PlaystationTV was going to sell, but I see that it hasn't been. With the fact that PSP and VITA didn't sell as much as they were hoping, I'd be surprised if Sony even makes another handheld, but they didn't really support the PSP that much, and I liked the PSP more than the DS at the time. The VITA is an incredible handheld...could have used some more work...and I honestly wish that Sony would give it more support, but it looks like they're just trying to leave it behind.

As someone who was a late adopter of the vita (picked up the borderlands bundle, great hardware; bad port) I am extremely satisfied. That being said, i am a huge jpg and weird niche games fan so I have plenty to play on the system. The ps4 remote play as well as the slew of crossbuy/crossplay games are a huge plus as well. Only downfall, not to beat a dead horse, is the memory cards. Wish I wouldn't have to shell out extra $ to fit all the games I want to play on it. Anybody got any must play recommendations?

I really adore my Vita, and I do a majority of my gaming on it, when not at home. It needs more quick, stop, go titles. Like say, Monster hunter, god eater or another variation. I also think Killzone Mercenary is a must buy, for this reason as well.

I'll take the Vita to the grave with me, even if Sony won't.

I'd have said either Danganronpa, but I saw your DP. I thought Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward was an under rated home run, along with Freedom wars, Soul sacrifice, god eater (psp version) monster hunter frontier G, P4G (Im sure everyone knows it by now). ffx/x-2, and ff tactics/tactics ogre (ps1 ports).

Ha I have almost everyone of those. Absolutely loved zero escape, keeping my fingers crossed that they fund and release the third/final act. Thanks for the recommendations! Sounds like a plan, I still haven't finished the story mode, but playing online is fun. Just need to fix my router, or I may disappear midway :/ . Steins;gate looks good, I love visual novels, and it looks to be a great one.

When it comes to a good vita game NIS/Atlus is a brand you can trust.

Could not agree more about the quality of nis/Altus games. Great I am code 8 in freedom wars so I can help you out with any difficult sections, pretty much farming for specific parts to finish out the trophies for the platinum. I never played visual novels until the vita and am really happy to have discovered the genre.

From a technical stand point, the Vita is by far the best hand held console but like any hardware it relies on its software. History has told us that the best technical system can fail because of lack of support or software. Pricing can also play a part too. When the Vita launched it was more expensive than a home console - one of the factors that put me off. If any console comes out that is technically far superior from anything else but has very limited software, it will not be remembered, not sell well and be considered a failure. Looking back at the consoles of the past we don't necessarily remember the hardware but the software we played on those. The PS2 wasn't technically the best 6th generation console but is by far the best selling because of the software support. The first thing I think of when I look back at my consoles was the games they enabled me to play

I'm fairly certain I am code 8 as well, I got caught up farming/upgrading my main weapon, that I hadn't done the last mission; and then I decided to clear some backlog before I finished, so yeah kinda been in and out. Whenever someone tells me vita doesn't have any games I can't help but laugh. It keeps me more than preoccupied.

Not completely related to the original topic but something i have noticed when generally browsing vita related threads is the number of posters who imply that sony actually seems to want the vita to 'fail'. As much as i would like them to regularly produce AAA games for the system, as other people in this thread have mentioned, its just not really viable (sadly). This doesnt mean they dont want the system to succeed - in all honesty i cant imagine anyone wants the system to succeed more than the people who produced it!
