Does anyone else have trouble with wake-up club? It seems to work perfectly fine if your system is still on, BUT if it is activating out of standby mode...
1)there seems to be a delay. It may be a full minute after my alarm was supposed to go off, but it still says I only took 10 seconds to wake up.
2)I always seem to have a full group of real users, but I am always first place no matter what, and they are always all awake by the time I get to the group screen. I've also never been "cheered" on or had the opportunity to cheer someone on (since they're always all awake, but somehow I'm first place)
It would also be nice if the volume of your alarm was unrelated to the volume your system is currently set at, but obviously that's not as important as these other app-breaking issues.

is anyone using wake up club? have you EVER seen another user (not a fill-in bot) still asleep or gotten anything other than first place when activating from standby mode?

The problem I found is that if the alarm goes off and you don't wake up, you don't actually turn the application on to record your "fail".
I am also always recorded as first. I can only assume that maybe there's always a tie and it marks you as first in a tie? I say this because it seems only a few units of time are possible to achieve. I think in almost all of my wake ups, it was always like 8 seconds even when I was faster on some than others.
The problems I have (like you said) with using that application is I listen to music with my Vita when I go to sleep. The Wake Up Clup application relies on the volume of my Vita being maxed in order to be as loud as possible.
As a straight alarm, it does it's job. As a socially aware alarm, it needs a little refinement.

It seems like overall you are seeing the same issues. I haven't gotten confirmation from anyone that the app is actually working as intended. I think it is impossible not to be first place if it launches from standby, as long as you wake up "on time". I don't know why my entire group is always all awake. Maybe the app is accidentally pairing you with 12 other people who have pressed the launch wake up club button (meaning their awake) instead of 12 people whose alarms are going off. To fix this they need to make it go straight to the alarm mini-game screen from standby and bypass the "do you want to launch wake up club" button. And of course they need to fix the glitch that always makes you first place.
They also really do need to fix the volume issue. Otherwise the "cheering" may be pointless, because that person in your group who isn't waking up may just have forgotten to turn his vita's volume up all the way.
I really hope they patch the app so it works as intended b/c I really like the idea.

Yeah, my girlfriend's Vita does the same as what we both reported too, so I'm almost certain it's a problem with the application and not the installation. I will say that both of us have been able to cheer for others nearly every time, although, my sound settings don't work. I want to sound like a cat garsh dangmit!
I was hoping for a small mini game or something every time the alarm goes off. Rarely, I have the tendency to turn off alarms in my sleep....

Surely they will fix the app then. They must realize there are fundamental flaws with the functionality when booting from standby.
