I've been wanting a 64gb memory card for some time, my 16gb and 8gb cards are full and obviously too small. Firstly can you use a none Sony memory card?

@themcnoisy: Nope it's a propriety format i'm afraid

@themcnoisy: That is the main complaint about the Vita, that you only use their cards. Which is why Sony prices them the way they do.

@FullbringIchigo: @Tasuki: That leads me to my second question;

Why did Sony think selling overblown priced memory cards was a good idea? I'm now so shocked at the 64gb cards being sold at £100 when I can buy a 2 terabyte hard drive for less than £90 for my PS4.

@themcnoisy: one of the many mistakes Sony made with the Vita

it's still a decent system though, at least i think it is

I also went 32gb and have managed ok (though not as great as a 64gb card obvs). I got mine through ebay and was a little cheaper than buying through most retailers though still not cheap.

I don't regret it though

@KratosMD: @Rudy_Manchego: I may go 32gb too, that's probably better advice. I enjoy all the games on Vita too, pity I constantly need to juggle games and inevitably forget previously downloaded ones. Do we have a library system on the vita similar to the ps4?

@themcnoisy: no library system but you can access a download list from the PlayStation Store

@FullbringIchigo: @themcnoisy: I tend to manage via my download list on the store, I just review and then download. Needs a bit of juggling with physical games but then these take up less space.

If anyone else has any useful bits of info regarding vita memory cards please post away!

Proprietary memory cards is one of the things people forget when they talk about why the Vita didn't do well. At the reveal everything was looking good before the face-palm moment of that little piece of information. I'd like to pick up one for cheap to go in a PSTV a friend got me, but it seems they are more expensive now then when I picked up my Vita. Actually, does anyone know if you can just swap the one in a Vita back and forth with a PSTV? I'm guessing not, but worth asking...

Rudy_Manchego

I got my Vita with an 8gb card and downloaded a couple of games on it before buying a larger card. I then just plugged the 8gb card straight into my PSTV when I got it and was able to play those games straight away. That said, I have not tried swapping between the two regularly and not sure about saves.

You also need to remember that due to the utterly bonkers way that the Vita was designed, if you delete a downloaded game off your Vita to make room for another it also deletes your game save so if you ever go back to it you've lost everything. So you can't just delete things willy nilly. You need to be done. D-U-N.

@johncalmc: That is frustrating, D-U-N gonna use that from now on when I'm trading something in.

@KratosMD: It gets even better! 58gb for.... £100.

@Dichotomy: @Rudy_Manchego: Well this is something I haven't considered, A PSTV can be picked up for £30 if you look hard enough. A 32gb card which lets be honest is mandatory, is £60!

The memory cards double the price of the unit! Crazy.

The vitas library is amazing especially for Japanese and psone games, so I suppose I have to bite the bullet. But its not a nice taste.

If you have PS Plus though, you can upload your save data to the cloud. If you do ever delete your games and redownload them, all you nee to do is hit the little save icon and download it again. They give you a lot of space, so running out of save space in the cloud should not be an issue.

The size of the card you should go with really depends on you, I personally like to have my entire collection of game in one easy to access space so i opted to buy some 64gb cards. I only have 2 game carts because of collectors edition titles. Everything else i've bought for the vita was digital and it fills up quick especially with ps plus titles that were being released. It's been really slow for the vita now though so they aren't really giving out big, space eating titles anymore lol. If you don't mind having carts then a 32gb is good for ps plus titles and then some. Digital, on the other hand, fills up real quick. I have 2 64gbs and they are both full. Although if i see a vita title on sale for cheap on the sen store then i tend to pick it up which is a big reason why my cards are full lol XD I haven't looked into cards in a while but i remember the price difference from a 32gb to a 64gb was about 15-20 bucks. So if it still about that then i would highly recommend going with a 64gb as that extra 32gbs makes a world of difference for just an extra 20 bucks. I don't regret buying the cards as i really do love the system.

@dawnpatch: I wish it was only £20 difference. I can get a 32gb for £60 and a 64gb for £95. It may seem mad but a 32gb card could well suit me and I will ready up with whatever retail games I can find. I'm a sucker for sale priced games on any system though. I hate missing cheap games, which, I may never play but its good to know I own them.

@themcnoisy: Very true - I got my PSTV second hand and it was very cheap. When I bought my Vita I got a download pack with an 8gb memory card which I now use in my PSTV after purchasing the 32gb card.

I find that I tend to buy more games cheaply in sales then I ever get through so I review my Vita games regularly and delete those I have played or aren't too keen on. So I find that the 32gb card is enough for me.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

Is that the pack with hungry giraffe, little big planet and little deviants on it? If so I got the same one! Then bought a 16gb card separately and haven't played any of those games since depressing I think wipeout 2048 is on that too! Oh my god I forgot about that.

@themcnoisy: I got the one with Injustice, Arkham Origins: BlackGate and some PSP titles. The titles I got were all DLC codes so I still have them on my download list. Wish I had gone with the little big planet pack in the end - I actually bought that seperately.
