Just wondering what other people's thoughts on this were? It seems such an odd thing to be in there, as there's such a stark contrast between this and the main campaign (which is incredibly simple and forgiving comparatively).

All in all I'm really not sure how I feel about it. I'm not saying added difficulty was a bad idea - as mentioned the campaign was rather simple and could've used a boost - but I think the random element was possibly a mistake, or at least could have been programmed better so that you didn't end up with runs that were impossible to achieve due to note placement.

I'm half way down the list with 10 completed so far (still got Thermogenica 2 to go, which is on the backburner for now), and making slow but steady progress. Really just wondered what other's opinions were. Have you tried the mode? Did you like it? Did you finish them all? Is it really difficult, or am I just bad at rhythm-based platform games? Answers on a postcard (or, y'know, in the thread below).

EDIT before everyone starts to pick on my gaming skills too, I feel I should mention so far I've done all bar one of these without the sound turned on (I couldn't do Event Horizon #2 without it). Some may not think that makes a difference, but I think it counts as a handicap! ALSO wanting opinions on whether there is any dis/advantage to playing on a PS3/4 - since starting this game yesterday I've noticed that the X button on my Vita now squeaks, and I'm sure it didn't before. Don't really want to risk damage to my Vita!

I'm with you; I absolutely hate it. It seems to depend on luck and is not fun in the slightest. I'd love to get the platinum in Sound Shapes, but this will forever stand in my way - it's just not worth the hours of pain and frustration it will inflict upon me.

I absolutely adore those puzzles, though, where you have to recreate the riffs.

Oh yeah the Beat School mode was a neat idea (although I have to admit to cheating on a few of them)! But Death Mode as you say just penalised you frequently even when you'd executed things near perfectly. I finally beat it yesterday evening and almost wish I hadn't bothered now. Simply as I know now that I won't remember the game fondly for it's relaxing campaign or clever Beat School mode, but instead for the image of Thermogenica #2 and Event Horizon #2 seared onto my retinas after countless cheap deaths with one note to go. Shame really, as the rest of the game was really quite fun!
