Ok lets get this vita forum buzzing for a change and talk about its best game! I'm due to start this imminently and would love to play it through concurrently with a bunch of pushsquare heads. Throw your comments in and lets get the hype machine rolling heading towards P5!

I've started P4G on Vita a couple of weeks ago (put it down for a week to play Day of the Tentacle). I've played a few hours but only really just got past the first couple of matches/fights/whatever they are.

This is my first JRPG style game so it is taking me some time to get my head around it and the gameplay style. However, it is defo unique and I will continue to plow through it. I still don't understand what to do in the fights so any advice is welcome.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

20 hours in and I ground to a halt with it, I like a little more freedom in my RPG's and found the simulation aspect to be too restrictive and the dungeons to be too uninspired and boring. The flashy battles are great at the start but after a while the shine wears off and I found myself wanting some of the novelties found in Bravely Defaults combat system (speed increases etc.) I didn't really like the Persona system either. I pushed through the first 4-5 hours as I'd heard how restrictive this part of the game was but it never felt like it opened up like I wanted it to.

The characters and story were pretty cool I guess but overall it wasn't for me. I know my opinion of it is fairly negative but I gave it a fair go. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on it after a chunk of play. Maybe I'll enjoy 5 more

I never played Golden, but I did play vanilla P4 back when it first hit PS2. It's been a long time though.

I seriously want a Vita just for this. This game is also why my hype for P5 is through the roof.

I've beaten it three times, and I beat the original PS2 version as well, and I still don't have the platinum. That Hardcore Risette Fan trophy suuuuuuuuuucks. But the game itself is an absolute treat, and probably the best JRPG since the glory days of the PSOne. I'd like to get the platinum in it before Persona 5 hits and I disappear off the face of the Earth for a month.

Finally started P4G. Will delve into it more later tonight, I ended up watching a myriad of content at the main menu. It was awesome! Why more games refuse to offer that level of fan service I will never understand.

I've started on Easy, Which I don't usually do. But with all the collectibles and battles I dont want to be bogged down in really hard battles searching around dungeons. The game informs you that ng+ option is available at the end so I'm happy with that.

Looks great so far especially the humour.

@themcnoisy I'm on my third playthrough at the moment, chipping away at it most days as it is a long game. I was pretty much hooked from the first few minutes when I first got it, so making it to my 3rd time through isn't a shock. I wouldn't worry too much about the difficulty as normal is pretty easy once you understand the game's battle mechanics. For the most part though, you'll likely want to spend most of your time not even in battles and instead exploring the characters and story, so playing it on easy is a fine choice.

Keep us updated on how you are finding it.

Characters make this game! Played it a couple of times on Vita (imported Us version cause I couldn't wait ) and felt terrible when the game ended and I couldn't spend more time with Chie, Brosuke, Kanji and the others. The calendar thing is a bit frustrating and there is zero exploration so while I hold it dear I totally can see why it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Never belligerent but always uncompromising.

@CountFunkula78 Haha, I didn't have a clue what that meant when you posted it. But now I do!

Every days great at your Ju-Ness.

@Dichotomy it is boss. I'm only an hour and twenty minutes in and can see it being a mainstay in the vita for the next few weeks.

@Feena How come there's no exploration? There's a city map with a few locations already. Does the game funnel you where it wants you to go for the whole game? I've noticed I dont really have much control over what I do next right now and its been really linear so far. I was hoping it opens up later on.

@themcnoisy it will always feel more "time schedule management" than freedom- but yeah the game will leave you alone a lot more later on. On exploration: the number of places you can visit is pretty limited but you can interact with them in a lot of different ways... It's just the nature of the game, wouldn't consider it a flaw!

Never belligerent but always uncompromising.

@kyleforrester87 Skyrim? Nah P4G already hits higher notes. Skyrims not my cup of tea tbh, as I'm burnt on Bethesda open world games.

@booshy89 start it asap, I wouldn't be concerned with the length there's multiple saves and the days are over pretty quickly - I'm not chasing trophies on this one, I'm playing it for what it is. Big games do put me off, but with quality best in class games you have to let that slide.
