Topic: Is this good value for a PS Vita?

Last week I got a really strong urge to get a Vita, even though I'd ignored it up until now. I'm a fan of handhelds but more so the Nintendo handhelds. I looked at the PSP once but I didn't see enough to interest me at the time.

That brings me to the main point, I found a website that is selling a Vita 1000 (Wi-Fi only I think) bundled with a 16gb memory card (with Disney games on it) for €169.99.

Would you say that is good value?

I've mainly become interested in the Japanese games available for the system. It's not really an area the 3DS excels at.

Oh, my bad. I read that as dollars. Not sure if $233 is a such a good deal... But buy a Vita somewhere, regardless.

I suppose I should add that they offer free delivery. (and they're located in the same country as me)

The 16 GB card makes it worth it. The original model is only going to get more expensive as it is replaced by the newer model.

For UK/EU that is a good price I payed £150 for the UK Tearaway/LBP bundle with a 16GB card never looked back and that is around $240-250.

What sorts of Japanese games do you mean? Because both Vita and 3DS have a library that is very heavily Japanese.  Both systems receive very little Western support, and what Western support the Vita gets tend to be spin-offs of console titles like Golden Abyss, Burning Skies, and Liberation.

The Vita is going to be a great system if you like JRPGs and visual novels, but the 3DS has just as many from pretty much every Japanese publisher.  If you're really into Japanese games, it's worth your money to own both, probably over a PS4.

Also don't forget that you can use your Vita as a small Mediaplayer streaming your stuff from PC while youre comfortably in bed, I do this and you couldn't do that with a 3DS. Loving my Vita!

Well, the Vita is a nice little handheld. I own both a Vita and 3DS, so allow me to share some perspective. If you like the niche, Japanese titles, there are plenty on Vita. Now personally, I don't really like most of them. But you might. The games that interest me on Vita are games like Gravity Rush, Final Fantasy X/X-2, Borderlands 2, GoW HD Collection, Persona 4 Golden, Rayman Origins and Legends, Wipeout, Uncharted, Injustice, Muramasa, Toukiden, Sonic Racing Transformed, etc. And it's nice having all the Final Fantasy games and SRPGs like FF Tactics, Tactics Ogre and Jeanne d' Arc all available on PSN.

I mean, just look at the library on offer. If it seems like there's a bunch of games you'd play, then you'll probably enjoy it.

By Japanese I'm talking along the lines of Persona or Virtue's Last Reward., very "Japanese" style games, not neccessarily games that originate in Japan. I researched the Vita's library quite extensively, so I know what I'm missing out on.

Yeah I'm more of a handheld/nintendo person so I'm not interested in the PS4. Might get a PS3 some day when it's gone really cheap.

Anyway, I got a Vita the other day for that price and I managed to find a second hand copy of Persona 4 Golden in Cex. When I saw they were selling that game I thought it was now or never (getting a vita) so I went for it. Really enjoying the game so far.

I have about 19 games (some new and old) I'm interested in playing on the vita (4 aren't out yet) so I think I'm set for the future.

Not in the topic but I just recently got a PS3 and I'm currently looking at the PS Vita. I'm a fan of anime and anything related to it and the vast numbers of Japanese titles entice me. Will the Vita still be supported 2-3 years from now? Because I wouldn't like buying a handheld that will be replaced a year after. That brings me to my question, should I get the PS Vita / PS Vita Slim?
