Why do people hate and constantly bash it? Cannot they move on and stop arguing about it and just play their 3DS?

It is obvious that they are not going to make a difference, unless they take it to the Sony official website and voice it there. This is ridiculous when they keep preaching it like a mad dog!!! So frustrating...

People can't really enjoy a system when even the company behind it no longer supports it. Even at this point taking it to Sony's Website won't do any good. Sony has pretty much gave up on the Vita and so has many others.

@Tasuki: Does this mean the PS Vita is going to be discontinued?

Clearly people don't hate the Vita - despite being a commercial failure, it's cultivated a dedicated fanbase, and that's why games are still being announced for it. Some of which aren't set to release until 2017!

At this point it's a very niche device, but I think it continues to be very well supported despite the fact that it has a minuscule install base. Certainly I wanted more out of the Vita than we ultimately got, but for a product that has for all intents been a failure, I don't think anyone could complain about the kind of support it's received.

Next to the Dreamcast you might consider the Vita to be the gaming's industry best failure. It should've been so much more though!

Who hates the vita? Best 200$ I ever spent.

I bought my Vita very late into its lifespan (as in I knew what I was getting) and I don't regret it at all. There is a great library out there and still content coming out. I play it several times a week.

Sure, I wish it hadn't been dropped by Sony (to all intents and purposes) and that more people had them but I actually spend quite a bit on games for it. I think it is a real gamers device, it is not for casual players but people who want to actually game on the go. At least, that is what I tell myself.

I wonder how much of this was Sony's fault and how much of it was the changing market for handhelds. I still think there is a market for handhelds but maybe just not the Vita.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

The Vita is an odd beast.

It's easy to bash because it is, quite evidently, a commercial failure. It also has a lot of problems - propriety, overpriced memory cards, needless features like the back touch pad, no integration with PS4 for downloading games, and more - that mean that the system is costly and ludicrously over-designed.

But once you get past all that it's a great bit of kit, and it's got an ace line-up of games. I think the Vita is a great system, that's been let down by some incredibly poor decisions on the part of Sony. Still, the attach rate is good, and they're still releasing games for it, so while it might not have set the world alight it's probably going to be fondly remembered. Like the Dreamcast.

I am not sure people hate the Vita. Its just gty some obvious flaws like having to buy extra memory and then not really being supported like it could have been by sony. It came a a time when mobile phones got bigger and better and tablets of all sizes became affordable. I think it stuggled because of that. I never owned one but think its a decent bit of kit, well made and affordable.

I will say, that while I don't own a Vita, I do have a PSTV (I enjoy playing games more on television big screen) and I enjoy it. There are alot of great games on it especially the PSONE classics. And the remote play is a nice addition too.

3DS: bad
Vita: even worse

And all the people not liking Vita did make a difference: Sony will probably never make another handheld again!

@Mahe: Bad at what? the battery life is decent, the catalogue is phenomenal, the controls are fresh (ish its been a while since release), child friendly, made resilient and has mario bros 3 on it.

Whats bad about that?

Unfortunately handhelds have had their day, Im sad to say it but a phone is almost always my choice of handset. I can flick through Pushsquare, write the odd comment, check up on some sports, read the headlines, play a super quick game - everything you need when waiting for a bus or quick trip home or when bored with the wife watching casualty waiting for match of the day. Its too convenient. Im not saying I dislike the Vita, on the contrary its a decent bit of kit - but for all the fun Ive had, 24 out of 25 times I will play my PS4 at home and my phone on travels.

@Mahe: That does not mean the vita is necessarily bad it still has games coming and that is just an opinion, not a fact...

You misunderstood my OP. I meant make a difference not on this website, instead on the Sony official website.

Why are you so negative about the vita? Do you even own one?

@Mahe: I think that is being a little tough on players. Ps Vita owners are largely fans of the device, however it is clear that the device just didn't appeal to the mass market.

As many here have stated, I'd put it down to Expensive and unnecessary features, reaaallly silly proprietary and grossly expensive memory, poor marketing and lack of additional publisher/studio support.

The one thing I still hate is the still ridiculous memory cards that Sony blatantly overpriced
