Now fellas, what are the best games you have played on the Vita, and what sort of tips would you give?

I'm looking for the, "oh I wish I had bought a screen guard", "this hardcase screwed up my controllers' stick", "wish i had just bought the bigger memory SD card straight away cuz man they go fast", etc and all your favourtie games ever! Help a brother out.

As far as accessories go, there are rubber covers that are actually pretty good. You just slip your Vita inside and I find that they make the console a lot more comfortable to hold for long periods. Just search for them on eBay - usually non-specific brand ones going for a few £.

In terms of games, in my opinion, I'd say Persona 4 Golden is by far the best game on the system - an absolute must if you own a Vita. On top of that, Toukiden: Kiwami is great if you're up for some action RPG grinding. Danganronpa 1 and 2 are both fantastic games as well.

And yeah, I assume a few people will say this, but it's probably best to get a bigger memory card than you're thinking. I initially went for 4GB when the console launched and that was a mistake - nowhere near enough room. I'd go for 16GB if you plan on getting good use out of your Vita - they're not too expensive now.

Games like Rogue Legacy are great on the Vita, too. Really compulsive and will keep you coming back for hours on end. Hotline Miami, Hotshots Golf, Super Stardust Delta, Velocity Ultra and 2X, Tearaway, WipEout 2048, Killzone Mercenary - all well worth playing. There is a great library on the Vita, you just have to dig for it a little more.

EDIT: How could I forget Lumines?

If you haven't already get a years worth of PS+. I have seen some great Vita games given away for free through PS+ Freedom Wars comes to mind. Also some PS3 and PS4 games are cross buy with the Vita. Like Splunky for example if you at anytime bought it for PS3 or PS4 it will be available for you on the Vita as well.

Congratulations to owning the best handheld there is, I truly recommend:

1) Killzone Mercenary if you like shooters
2) HellDivers if you like top-down-action shooters with grinding
3) Disgea games if you like turn based anime tactics games
4) The God of War Collection if you like Kratos
5) Uncharted Golden Abyss if you like Adventure-Action well... Uncharted

And of course there's a bunch of Japanese weirdo games that might or might not be of your taste, but IF they are, you're in heaven on Vita.

If your looking for jrpgs, there's nearly all the Final Fantasy games on there for you to choose, Lys the trails in the Sky series in the psp section and Wild Arms. Persona 4 Golden is the best game on the system as ShogunRok said. Super meat boy is a great platformer. Stealth Inc. games are pretty good puzzle solvers. Danganronpa 1 and 2 are great visual novels. You've also got Binding of Isaac, Steamworld Heist and Spelunky for rogue-likes

@xX_RiscazZ_Xx:

Top tip 1 - Buy a grip
Top tip 2 - Buy a 64gb card
Top tip 3 - Buy Geometry Wars 3

Thats it for top tips

Mediocre tip 1 - If you cant afford a 64gb get a 32gb - 16gb or 8gb is far too small and the download speed of games is too slow to action this every time you want to play a game.
Mediocre tip 2 - avoid a grip and suffer with cripling arthritis in later life
Mediocre tip 3 - never play geometry wars 3 and never have the joy of feeling like a triangular hero of doom

Wow guys, thanks for the tips!

Funny enough, first thing I did on yesterday was getting Rogue Legacy on it, and then most of the PS+ cross buy/PS vita games I amassed over the last two years, it was a good call to add them to the library after all, I was not too sure if I'd actually end up buying one.

I'll look into rubber covers actually, I felt it was the weakest point in the handheld hardware not to be very handheld after a bit hahaha.

AND GUYS!!! PS ONE CLASSICS?! I'd have bought the damn thing ages ago if I ever heard about Crash Bandicoot being there for the taking on my commute daily! Along with Spyro, Metal Gear Solid, hell - won't be looking into new releases for a long time it seems!

Other than Geometry Wars, Killzone and Uncharted you guys mentioned, I may have a shot at the JRPG corner but from previous experiences I was not a fan, but who knows!

Congrats! As mentioned, get as big of a memory card as you can. I got the 64 gig back in July and have already gone through 40. Also, I have gotten a lot out of PS Plus, even with just Vita. BUT, my expectations as far as free games are pretty low. I figure for $5 per month, it's pretty good deal to check out some games that I normally wouldn't have. But as I said, with a lot of the major games already given out, you are probably going to be getting a lot of indie/older games.

@xX_RiscazZ_Xx: For PS One classics, if you hold down the PS button when you've started a game, it will bring up a settings menu, at the top of the menu you'll see an option for that games settings, from there you can adjust the screen size of you find the default size too small, you can also re-assign the controls if you have a certain preference. This applies to PSP games also as you can use the second thumb-stick (which the PSP didn't have) to make the controls a little easier to manage, certain games require you to use both the directional buttons and the left thumb-stick to move which is pretty awkward I find so just assign the directional buttons to the second thumb-stick on the Vita Also if the game requires you to switch discs at some point (like say Metal Gear or Final Fantasy) you can do this from the PS One settings I mentioned above

Top tips.....

1. Buy Metal Slug Anthology on PSN (unless you live in the EU)

2. Buy Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max on PSN

3. Buy a 64gb memory card

Its_badW0lf

@sub12: Funny you mention that, I only have access to EU store, but the first thing I grabbed other than my actual PS+ titles was Metal Slug 3.

And everyone, thanks for the help, 64GB card incoming today, It'll be an endless game machine when I'm done with downloading!

I have to say that I LOVE my Vita! It seems like everyone has already given you a lot of good, solid advice! Things like buying the biggest memory card you can afford, subscribing to PS+(good job on adding games to your download list, even for systems you don't have or use as much!!) and adding Persona 4 Golden and Helldivers to your playlist.

I have gotten a ton of mileage out of musu games (Samurai Warriors, One Piece, etc.) on the Vita ... They seem to be very well suited to play in short bursts. EDF is another title that will give you hours and hours of enjoyment, if you like these types of games?

Enjoy your Vita!! It has a ton of great titles and when you consider all of the PS1, PS2 and PSP games you can play on it ... The possibilities are endless!! I would like to try Remote play at some point in time but I usually play mine when on the road and wi-fi is usually pretty sketchy!!
