@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy Thanks for sharing. It's always fun to read people's initial impressions of the characters. I'm arguably too far into Danganronpa 2 now to do something similar, but I may have to steal that idea for when I start playing the next game

@KratosMD People who intentionally spoil things for others are just frustrating. I did have trouble with someone on here who created a new account on this website just to spoil a major Persona 5 revelation for me.

Hifumi is brilliant, because his representation of a certain type of male anime/gaming nerd is both very cruel and very accurate.

@Ralizah I knew a guy in school eerily similar to Hifumi. They actually nail the stereotype, he’s insufferable.

@nessisonett I know it's not in fashion right now, but I'm usually pretty willing to be lenient on younger boys. There are many paths to manhood, and some are less... graceful than others.

The 40-year-olds who lord themselves over small children in Yu-Gi-Oh matches, watch pornographic anime stuff in full view of the public, and talk imperiously about the ways in which 2D women are better than 3D women get less sympathy from me.

@Ralizah This guy was something else hahaha. If he was just into 2D girls it would be somewhat ok but seeing as I was essentially raised by teenage girls, he used to talk to me and ask about my female friends’ love lives, like a different girl every week. Fair enough if he was just into one of them or whatever but when the criteria is essentially any girl, it gets a bit murkier. Plus he liked Dragon Age 2 more than Origins which is a crime in and of itself. I think I prefer Hifumi.

I decided to actually go back to Danganronpa after all this talk and now I feel like I’m really getting into it! I’ve just got to the Chapter 2 murder but I’m kinda glad I know who makes it beforehand because I have a real hate of games/movies/tv where your favourite characters always cark it and it bums me out.

I'm glad to see that my end of chapter Character Opinion/Predictions has gone down a treat with you all!

I ended up playing and finishing Chapter 2 of Trigger Happy Havoc last night.

There was definitely some twists I wasn't expecting!

Thankfully @Th3solution I am enjoying it so far. In no small part thanks to an interesting cast (That's one thing Day's Gone was sorely lacking in my opinion!)

You're more then welcome to steal the idea @crimsontadpoles for when you get round to V3!

Glad to have inspired you to give it another go @nessisonett... Do you remember most of what happens having watched your brothers play through it or have you mostly forgot?

-EDIT- Lol just saw your post you made seconds before mine! Seems you do remember some of it!

Oh she's enjoying it @Ralizah thanks for asking! She got her mother's good taste

End Of Chapter 2

Yasuhiro Hagakure I ended up talking to him this round of free time. Wished I'd spent it on Mondo if I'm honest 😂 Could his sheer dopey-ness be an act? If it isn't a much more cunning mind is seriously going to take advantage of him at some point

Junko Enoshima As far as I'm aware she's dead as a doornail. The ending of the chapter... I'm a little more inclined to think it's a possibility that maybe someone isn't actually dead but I'm still not sure.

Celestia Ludenberg That... outburst at the tea. Could Celsete not be taking this situation as calmly as she seems to be? The ultimate gambler with a stellar poker face?

Sakura Ogami I honestly thought it was a neat idea on the game's director/ writer (or whomever's idea it was) in that it was Sakura (On Kyoko's behest) whom ended up finding out/revealing the twist that Chihiro was actually a guy. Sakura's also quite a well rounded and level headed character. I quite like her. I'll hopefully learn more about her next chapter.

Hifumi Yamada ... Oh dear. Lordy do I find him incredibly annoying as a character. My least favourite.

Mondo Owada Oh Mondo. Why?! Well we all know why... But still. You son of a b***h! Though the execution scene with Monokuma having a yellow Mondo wig and turning him into Mondo Butter... Priceless.

Chihiro Fujisaki NOOOOOOOOOO! That was... Actually well done regarding Chihiro and his secret. There was no judgement and it wasn't made into that big a deal or anything... there was just the initial surprise at the reveal. Kudos game and very well done.

Kiyotaka Ishimaru Oh Taka. I liked that the Bullet Time Battle was actually towards Taka who just wouldn't believe that his new found friend and bro was the killer. His budding friendship with Mondo was incredibly sweet. Even if it would've made it that much more painful for Taka I would've loved to have seen just a bit more of their friendship together.

Byakuya Togami A test to see whom he has to go up against if he tries to commit a murder himself? He's one cold, calculating son of a gun. I may not like him, but in a way I respect him.

Toko Fukawa I have to admit I have a particularly petty reason of not liking Erin Fitzgerald's more squeaky voice she often employs in her voicework so Genocide Jack/Jill grates on me. A LOT. I like everything about it though and what it means regarding Toko. Very interesting indeed.

Leon Kuwata He's also as dead as a doornail?... Not much else I can say. Yet.

Sayaka Maizono Like Leon there's not much I can really say. Yet.

Makoto Naegi He still has to be led around by the nose a bit... But he's slowly getting there. Still a bit of a bland protagonist though.

Kyoko Kirigiri She's an enigma, wrapped in a riddle surrounded by mystery isn't she? Next chapter I'll be talking to her for sure! I don't see her being bumped off just yet.

Aoi Asahina She has some adorable facial expressions at times. I still quite like her, especially after learning a little more about her. There's not much else I can say yet about her. I hope she pulls through this!

@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy I’ve decided to spend my free time with the people I know don’t make it past that chapter, so that I can understand their character a bit more. Obviously you won’t know how each part plays out but I do think it’s interesting to understand certain students’ motivations, how they subtly manipulate you and some that are just plain cool such as Mondo, what a dude.

Oh I think i'd definitely benefit from doing a second run through @nessisonett to see and fully appreciate how the various characters manipulate you (Or don't) as you go through it.

Glad to hear you're getting along with it this time around. You'll probably zip right ahead of me if you're already on the second chapter! 😂

I'm playing Trigger Happy Havoc on Mean - Mean by the way for the difficulties. (Kind sounded too easy for a what I guess is supposed to be normal)

I got an A for the second trial but I was dangerously close to having to retry! I keep forgetting to hear the debates through fully sometimes and I shot a truth bullet or two on a very similar sounding statement that wasn't the correct one.

Those rhythm based bullet time battles can also throw me off course a little too especially with the new mechanic of blocking the bar (And I forgot about the new ability I could use too)

Still I find there's a good challenge overall to things so far!

I polished off chapter 3 last night. By all accounts, the fan base consider it the weakest case in the series and tbh, I can see why. It’s no ‘Turnabout Big Top’ but a lot of it was a bit obvious and other bits were just ludicrous.

I finished off Chapter 3 last night as well @nessisonett and I was going to say myself in that I didn't think it was as good as the previous two.

However...

I ended up finishing Chapter 4 as well which I found much better.

I think I can safely say I'm hooked with this game... I wanna know this mystery dammit! 😂

With Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, I'm in the middle of Chapter 5, and I'm as bad as always at guessing whodunnit. I was suspicious of the killer in Chapter 3 just because they had the greatest opportunity, but otherwise I've been fairly clueless. Even now I'm suspicious of that character, since their dead body wasn't really shown at the end of the execution, so perhaps there's some trickery there. Chapters 2 and 4 were tough on me, since my two favourite characters ended up being the killers for them, and they seemed to get especially emotional execution sequences.

Anyway, I am loving this game. The trials seem to have plenty more twists and turns than the first game. I'm eager to see what happens next, and who the "traitor" is and what their goals are. It could be anyone, even the main character if they've forgotten about it.

The three core Danganronpa games are each an improvement on each-other. With that said, DR2 is a BIG improvement over DR1. It's one of the best iterative sequels I've ever played. Everything is better.

@Ralizah From what I’d seen of my brothers playing 2, I’d have to agree. The atmosphere is actually really good in 1 and I might prefer the cast but the gameplay’s definitely improved. It’s just kinda funny because Ace Attorney: Justice for All is so much worse than the first game so at least it didn’t go down that route!

@nessisonett

Of the adventure game trilogies I've played...

Improves with each entry: Danganronpa

Good first game, mediocre second game, amazing third game: Ace Attorney; Professor Layton

Good first game, amazing second game, mediocre third game: Zero Escape

The cast in DR2 is easily my favorite, though. They're the core group of people that come to mind when I think of the series. It's the only core cast where I feel like I'd actually want to spend time getting to know most of them.

DRV3 is mainly tops for me because of the added post-game content, and the fact that it has some of the best trials in the series. DR2 is my overall favorite core story campaign, though.

@Ralizah I absolutely agree with all the others. I actually haven’t seen anything of DRV3 because we own it on the Vita and by all accounts it’s better that way.

... Well I couldn't help myself and I've polished off chapter 5 this evening... 😳

So it's been revealed now that what's going on in Hope's Peak Academy is being broadcast all over the globe (A thought I honestly had from the beginning given all the cameras) I assume "The Event" is some sort of nuclear event, not just a murder at Hope's Peak.

Oh and I've forgotten to mention it before but I've really like the soundtrack! After getting some presents the first thing I bought with Monokuma coins was the trial tracks!

@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy The trial music in these games is great. It sounds like the music I'd hear in a dance club located in the bowels of Hell.
