So I found this article: http://gaming2016.com/fallout-4-disappointing/
It clearly sums up why Fallout 4 was disappointing. I'm just mad because i bought my ps4 for this game, and I would like to hear what you guys thought about Fallout 4?

@swippers:

My view is that Fallout 4 excels in exploration and atmosphere, as well,.....the combat and crafting mechanics felt solid.

However, in terms of dialogue, overall narrative, and quest design, it ranges from mediocre to bad.

Fallout 4 was still my second favorite game of 2015, but I hate to say it, The Witcher 3 rightfully overshadowed it when it came to making you actually give a damn about the characters and the world at large. I realize they are two different things in some aspects, Fallout 4 is "make your own adventure" and Witcher 3 an action-RPG based on a specific character / setting......regardless, Bethesda could take a few pointers from CD Projekt.

I just felt Witcher 3 to be a bit boring and way too long on the road, but that is just my point of view.

@swippers: Fallout 4 to me is Fallout 3 with a bit more colour. I know it also added more in the way of crafting and building but for a game that's based on exploration and freedom, I am not particularly bothered by the building. It seems out of place in Fallout too and whilst some 'creations' are 'impressive' they don't look 'right' in the Fallout universe.

I don't think the game-play, story or quests are particularly great either. In a lot of ways, Fallout 4 is a case of 'if it ain't broke....' but I had hoped it would do more for its first outing on next gen consoles. It almost looks like it was developed for last gen and then made a last minute jump to this gen with a lot of it just ported up rather than reworked, remastered etc.

The Witcher 3 though is by far the better game. That could bee because I am more invested in the lore. Compared to the Witcher 2, this is a much bigger step up too and switching to a more open world setting hasn't affected the depth of story. Combat, in my opinion, is excellent too. Whilst you could play this on an 'easy' difficulty setting, its not until you switch it up that using the right magic/bombs, right sword and combination of movement combined with attack. Personally I think it can 'match' Bloodbourne on its most difficult of setting - maybe not quite as challenging or the sameatmosphere but it has a LOT more depth to the rest of the game. Bloodbourne was created with its Combat as its primary focus, The Witcher with its story, lore and world.

What sets the Witcher apart from Fallout though, in my opinion, is that the world seems far more 'real' and decisions you make have more impact - not just on you but the NPC's as well. The diversity of NPC's seems bigger too - maybe because they are made up of Humans and Non-humans and even within these there are differences - either political or because of their background. Helping one group affects others and this is reflected within the world far better than in Fallout. Its not always obvious either, it doesn't throw these at you but if you return to areas you can often see the impact of your actions. Sometimes small things have significant and major impact and others that seem big seem to have minor ramifications - there is no way to tell. There is no right or wrong choices either, you don't play through on a 'paragon' and then 'renegade'. The world feels far more dynamic, as if it would and does carry on around you - whether you can see it or not.

Visually the Witcher 3 is stunning too and certainly justifiably 'next' gen - something I don't feel about Fallout 4. Graphics though are not overly important although can enhance the experience. Fallout 4, I think disappoints because you are left thinking it isn't the big step-up to next gen we had hoped it would be. Its Fallout 3.5 rather than Fallout 4

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

Spot on.

I loved Fallout 4 and can't wait for the DLC but The Witcher 3 is one of the best RPG's ever made IMO.
