There are some moments in games where you just think WOW or others where you just smile and laugh 😁 just wondered what yours are. To start mine is the drinking session between Geralt and his fellow witchers at Kaer Morhen in the witcher 3

2006. Colossus #1
Knowing full well by the fatal stab that I shouldn't be doing it.

Blimey, what a question... far too many, er... yikes. I'll try and keep it short.

Funny character-driven moments include the Citadel DLC party from Mass Effect 3 (and I kinda liked "movie night" in Mass Effect Andromeda, too) as well as the Wicked Grace sequence from Dragon Age Inquisition. There was also a moment in my romance with Iron Bull which was particularly hilarious, even if the romance itself wasn't my favourite. BioWare basically does good, brief and endearing comedy to break up their epics.

But as far as "wow" moments go? Well, there's pretty much every set-piece from Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (the cargo plane and the horseback rescue of Sully being the highlights), the entire boss fight with Firefly in Batman: Arkham Origins, Rooftop Run (Day) and the fight against the Egg Dragoon in Sonic Unleashed, the musical monkey DLC temple from Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the Metal Gear brawl from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, pretty much every single encounter with a machine bigger than Aloy in Horizon: Zero Dawn and all of the driving levels from Blood Stone 007. I'm grinning from ear to ear, every time.

But then I could also list half-a-dozen idle animations that have the same effect.

@QualityGeezer Glad it wasn't just me. It pushed some of the characters over from "just kinda there" to "okay, I like you now" (although shame it happens so late in the game).

Kallo: "I can't feel my gall bladder!"
Ryder: "Do you even have a gall bladder?"
Kallo: "Oh no! It's worse than I thought!"

going back a bit but The Landing from FINAL FANTASY VIII the slow music build up to a really good beat perfect for the mission at hand, the awesome CG cut scene intro that leads up to a fun boss fight and an escape through the streets while a giant walking tank relentlessly chases you

not to mention your decisions though this segment actually affect your rank, thus how much money you earn i just love it and it still gives me goose bumps even today

i SO can't wait for the Remaster to experience it again

"I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!"

"Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!

The ending of The Last of Us.
The ending of Red Dead Redemption 1 (main ending and epilogue ending) and RDR2 (main story ending)
NieR Automata multiple moments, but Ending E comes to mind.
Saying goodbye to Quiet in MGSV
The ending of Bioshock Infinite
... among others. 😄

When you had to get rid of that detective in the longest journey with the aid of only a can of fizzy drinks and a industrial shaker.

@QualityGeezer Summon the b**ches!
Quality scene that was.

I have many favourable moments from games but I'll never forget the twist of finding out who Revan was in Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic.

Ooooh there are obviously tons of awesome moments but these are the first few I thought of:

The scene with all the gangs together on the boat at the end of The Getaway. Great dialogue, great tension, great ending to a great game!

The epilogue of Uncharted 4.

The end of Mafia 1 and 3, and the bit in Mafia 2 where Joe and Vito go and kill the guy from the first game.

The airport level in Max Payne 3 stands out as well

@ApostateMage one of many quality moments of that scene loved Lambert.
I concur with your choice as well, was a good pay off

QualityGeezer

YES @roe although I preferred the level in the favela's

The end of disc 1 in final fantasy 7 was probably the first real WOW scene I saw in a game. Won't spoil it but those who have played it know what I mean

NoCode23

Fallout 3, 2008:
The first time i left the vault and opened the cave door and viewed the outside world for the first time. That was an experience shared by me and the protagonist. That the game started in the vault made that remarkable experience possible

In Fallout 4 the story starts ouside with only a brief time with little story in the vault before leaving. In Fallout 3 there is a lot of story before the player and protagonist see the world outside the vault.

@NoCode23 Great pick. Up until then i really wasn't sure on the game, with the birthday party and all that. But then the game opens up and you are like 'WOW'.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
