Imagine, 14 y/o you, just finished 98% of GT4 on PS2 after almost a year, one more series to finish to 100% the game. You spend one day out with friends. You get home the evening and find out your younger brother deleted the save file to make space for FIFA '08 tournament save.

@FalconIX Ah man, ... yeah, that’s a bummer. Truly a horror story. And this hypothetical 14 y/o is unlikely to have the adult perspective to process such a mishap. I don’t know whether to feel more sorry for the 14 y/o or the little brother who surely received a tongue lashing afterword 😛

@FalconIX my older brother once deleted my 100% FFX PS2 save to make room for a game and i punched him in the nose (some of that stuff was damn hard to do)

he never touched my PS2 memory card after that

"I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!"

"Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!

@themcnoisy I was really looking forward to creating and racing some of my own courses using the track creator after I'd finished the campaign. But by the end my appetite had completely gone.

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

@FalconIX My younger sister once fancied a go on Fallout 3 when I was back home with my PS3 and had no idea the main save is an auto save.

I lost many hours of game time and she managed to quit after the character got shot and killed immediately after entering a room. The game would then reload the character entering that room for the same thing to immediately happen again in the most depressing and short lived version of Groundhog Day ever.

@Thrillho Haha, I had that exact same thing happen to me in Fallout, only difference is I did it to myself.

This geb's worst grinding experience for me was playing the release version of No Man Sky. Scan x animals, visit x planets, collect x collectibles, find x minerals. And so on.

I hear the game has improved over the last few years, but never gave it a serious second try.

Off the top of my head - Final Fantasy X was the worst. I was going for the platinum, which is totally annoying in this game. Most of them are alright and I think there's only one missable trophy, but there's a couple that require a hellish grind. And it's the worst kind of grind because it really serves no purpose. The one trophy that stands out in my mind was the one for maxing out the entire sphere grid, which involves collecting these sphere things that you can slot into various nodes across the board, but to get them you have to kill specific enemies, and you need loads of them and you need to do it for every character.

By that point in the game I'd already killed all the optional bosses and done everything else, so it was just maxing out for the sake of maxing out, and it took about forty years.

@johncalmc I Remember that you only get the spheres from the Arenas super monsters that could one shot you if you weren't careful

@Areus From memory, yes. You basically have to go in and just blast everything with Wakka's overdrive. By that point in the game you're super hard anyway.

Playing the Ni No Kuni 2 DLC. I have just been told collect 100 jars of Oasis wonder water. I know which monsters drop it but 100 is a lot. I’m going to have to kill a lots of them to get enough. Might just do a different quest instead.

Edit: Found a shop that sells the stuff.

RuneScape and Warframe. If I'd get $1 for every 1,000 hours I've spent grinding on those two games, I would have enough money to buy one can of tactical bacon.

Don't mind the grind in games tbh as long as the RNG isn't too bad.

Huntin' monsters erryday.
