My favorites genres in music are rock and rap, with rap being my favorite of the two as I think the most important thing is music is the lryics. My favorite artist is Eminem (clean versions, as with anyone I listen to with swearing) due his immense lyrical skill and overall brilliance. My second favorite is probably Linkin Park. Their best album's are Hybrid Theory and Metora. Minutes to Midnight and A Thousand Suns were good/alright, but nothing near their first two albums. Livings still wasn't as good, bit still fantastic. When The Hunting Party was released it was the best album since Meteora, and return to form. I recommend it to anyone who misses the old Linkin Park.
Some other artists I like:
Celldweller - he's pretty much electronic rock mixed with dubstep. Definitally the best emotional use of dubstep I've ever seen.
My favorite of his: http://youtu.be/L27O8zPgzxo
Babymetal - My favorite foreign band. They're an all girl metal band, but they don't sing like it's metal though. They sing in a more J-pop way and are completely adorable. Here's a great music visor by them: http://youtu.be/cirhQ8iLdbw
NF - He's a new rapper that I really like. I just got his album "Mansion" and it's great. Another thing I personally really like about him, is that he's a talented rapper that doesn't swear. Here's a really good track from his album: http://youtu.be/V9dIVtoxIyo

@jaz007 I went to see Eminem in 2001 great live act he really puts on a good performance. he has had is ups and downs musically I like his early work and his last two albums are really good. I got Kendrick Lamars To Pimp a Butterfly a few weeks ago that's a great album worth checking out if you are into rap. Also A$AP Rocky last album was good probably better than his first.

I'm currently mostly into modern music only, basically Dubstep/Techno/Trance/DnB and such. But I do like other types of music as well, just that I don't like to listen to them on a daily basis. I also don't keep up with music regularly because I can't really be bothered. What I do though is every time when I start a new semester I compile a playlist of a bunch of songs that have come out recently and use that playlist to listen to music when I travel to and from campus and when I'm studying, up until the next semester.

Music is basically a really good way to motivate me to do things when I'm not in the mood and it just gets me into a better mood in general. It also helps me create memories from my time at school/university, because when I go back to listen to songs that I've put together in each playlist from each semester, I get reminded of so many things. Music is basically an easy way to take a trip down memory lane and that's why I believe it plays such a huge part in my life. Can't live without it.

Some artists that I recommend listening to: Bingo Players, Chuckie, Fedde Le Grand, Alesso, Deniz Koyu, John Dahlback, Hardwell, Nicky Romero And Tiesto.

I pretty much exclusively listen to '80s electro and synthpop right now.

@johncalmc: check out the band, Feathers. They're a great electronic/80's synthpop all girl outfit from Texas and supported Depeche Mode on tour.
I bought their debut album after hearing their song 'Dark Matter' on GTAV. I loved it.

@ApostateMage: I've not heard this band before, but listening to them they sound a lot like Marsheaux, which is a good thing since I like them very much. Thanks!

So far the album of the summer and year is The Avalanches. I did not think it was possible to top Since I left you which I loved in 2000 but the long wait has been worth it for Wildflower. The samples they use and vocals is so well put together highly reccomended.

@Jaz007: You should try out DJ Format and Rage Against the Machine if you like rap mate (unless you've already heard Rage, which I hope you have).

@Speedy67:

Like me some Soundgarden, but AIC, Screaming Tree, and early Pearl were always my favorite from the early 90's Washington movement.

So in the metal world, Korn and Meshuggah are great as ever, and In Flames are abysmal.

@johncalmc: I'm not sure if this is up your alley exactly, but regardless it's one of my favorite bands at the moment:

ICE CHOIR: "Unprepared":

For everyone else...I'd post the other bands I like, but I think I'm too far off the mark to relate to y'all. I'm talkin' MAGRUDERGRIND, TRAP THEM, DEAFHEAVEN, NOTHING, EAGULLS, SUBURBAN LIVING, etc.

Make it a great day!

@kupo: This song is stupendously '80s sounding.

I also like most of the other bands you mentioned.

@Speedy67: In Flames haven't been anywhere near their best since Clayman which was god knows how many years ago.

My music taste hasn't really changed since I last posted but I've been listening to so many different artists that i've lost track.

@johncalmc: Repping Junko I see, she can never go away can she haha.

The future is looking great (until you have to save everyone for the 50th time)
